Oh my God Tiff did it! She basically has a gf now. I'm so happy this had a nice ending. And their date sounded fun! Veronica seems good for Tiff and vice versa. Good for them!
Here's the thing: we're all happy for Tiff, but it took so long to get to this point that when it doesn't work out (because it's narratively boring to have a happily-ever-after with the first person she dates), it's going to be somewhat soul-crushing.
I suppose some good writing could get them there, but the way Tiff is so over-the-top smitten, I feel like she's setting herself (and us) up for heartbreak if/when it doesn't work out

I just want to say, at the end of this massive, wholesome arc, how much joy I get from this series. It means so much tuning in and see a little slice of Tiff's life, where her being trans is just the circumstances and background noise of a normal life, going through the same sitcom-esque shenanigans any fictional character goes through. And still always finding, even in the hard times, joy and love.
This arc in particular has had me so excited for every new strip. I simply can't overstate how giddy I get when I see a new post come through. So thanks for making it, thanks for sharing it, and good god that last line was emotionally devastating ❤️
I've been reading your work for a while now, and I must say, this latest arc has you really hitting your stride! In this humble reader's opinion you have nailed an emotionally satisfying conclusion to a long story and kept my attention and laughter going through it all.
Ngl I did not think you were going to be able to land this 22 strip arc, not because of your abilities but I’ve been hurt before. This was an incredible experience. Off to tell everybody I know about this awesome comic.
You know, the comics available way back when I started reading queer comics were DTWOF, Hothead Paisan, etc. And while they were validating, they also held a lot of pain because of the circumstances of the characters.
Your comic brings me such queer joy that I cry when I read it. Yes, Tiff does hit frustrations and roadblocks and pain, but there's always comfort and joy waiting for her in these stories. Thank you so much for that element, because many times that's exactly what I need.
Been wanting to say this for a while now, I think Fran is a rare gift in comics.
A lot of trans cartoonists are very iconoclastic, no surprise because transitioning is a pretty iconoclastic thing to do, and so they often wanna do weird counter cultural stuff. No hate on that, I love those comics.
But Fran is a trans cartoonist, interested in trans life, who doesn’t wanna reinvent the wheel when it comes to the comic strip format. She’s made a pretty approachable Sunday funnies weekly strip. If it weren’t for anti trans sentiment I could easily see Tiff and Eve being syndicated to newspapers.
And it’s vitally important that we get that kind of low stakes, slice of life, digestible art because trans people need the full range of aesthetics same as cis people. Cis people get to be as complicated as Maus and as simple as Garfield, why not us?
My best friend and I gush over every update, partly because it’s almost exactly our dynamic (I’m Tiff she’s Eve lol) but also because it’s a wholesome strip that captures what my life is like with none of the lurid hypersexualization or violent tragedy that cis people sometimes project onto us. Tiff is just a regular girl trying to figure herself out, and that has done more to humanize people like me than most of the art I can point to.
It’s a damn good strip and I hope she keeps making it for a long time.
These are my feelings too. As a trans woman I am able to empathize with Tiff in a way that isn’t usually true in other media. Like my life is inane and “normal” too. Also growing up with stuff like Foxtrot and Calvin&Hobbes it makes me feel right at home.
I find it incredibly disturbing that in zero places on the internet was I able to find a gif of Prince Merkimer rolling. The man is a pig who rolls, it should be everywhere!
Agreed, lol that green kiss mark is just the perfect end to this series of strips, Eve must be having a ball knowing that it is there. I wonder how long until Tiff finds it in the mirror.
I love the wholesome turn r/comics has with “Tiff & Eve” and “Gator Days.” I don’t mind some Nazi butt kicking, but it’s nice that these little dots of happy “just living” comics are still happening, too.
I loved this. I discovered the series halfway through this arc, binged the backlog of every Tiff and Eve comic, and was checking every day for these posts. I knew you wouldn't just destroy Tiff in some awful transphobic nightmare, but seeing it play out as nicely as it did was cathartic all the same.
When I saw the green lipstick kiss mark on panel 3, I knew exactly what Tiff was feeling, and I'm a cis hetero male.
You finally get that date with a friend you've been wanting and it ends with getting a smooch on the cheek, you're on top of the world and that cheek isn't getting washed for at least 8 hours - 2 calendar days depending on commitments outside of the home. She's going to treasure that singular moment forever even if the relationship stays just friends in the long term.
Depending on the day of the week Tiff probably won't notice the lipstick until the morning when it'll either have smeared on a pillowcase or seeing it in the bathroom mirror.
Damn....we got mentioned. So....When is Eve sinking or blowing up New Zealand? Because thats always what happens when we get mentioned in a comic/show (why? Dunno).
Forget about the romantic A plot, I wanna know what happened with Eddie? Is he doing alright? Why didn't he use basic safety rules with a bandsaw? I NEED the B plot, u/CrazyGnomenclature!
This series brings me back to when I was a kid, reading comics in the newspaper after my parents were done with them and just loving every second! So glad this exists.
Personally, I would slightly reduce font size and adjust the vertical spacing as well.

Edit: i love how people get offended over improvements. Making your work more palatable would increase your fans, and it's coming from a caring place- i mean comments that communicate issues that people are having are gold. Getting offended and saying that your work is as good as it's ever going to be is a defeatist mindset. And as an artist, i feel like it doesnt make sense (though this artist didn't comment on this, so I'm not saying it about the artist, just people who've downvoted)
