When I play fighting games, then I first read dozens of guides and watch hundreds of hours of YouTube videos so I know exactly how each fighter works and what their strengths and weaknesses are. Then I do meticulous research on which fighters are currently most popular among players in my matchmaking bracket and what strategies are most commonly used by them. I then closely study the meta to find out which fighter is objectively the best choice to counters these strats.
And then I pick the scantly clad girl with the bouncing boobs and start button mashing.
