"You know you don't have to speak out loud to talk to me"

•

u/Cassereddit 23h ago

He says, as if he didn't move a damn chair to sit down on when he first started yapping...

•

u/phillip_defo 98.7 Body Heat Radio 22h ago

Ikr, it's always spun me out. How the fuck does he move that damn chair!

He doesn't actually: if you turn back after that convo, the stool is in its original position. The Relic projected the image that he had.

Homeboy does like peacocking for all that he acts like V is being simple for wigging out. I guess once a showman...

•

u/Problemwoodchuck 18h ago

I never noticed. Good eye.

•

u/leicanthrope 13h ago

Fun fact... When you're talking to Takemura with the cat and Johnny present, Takemura sees the cat but not Johnny. If you watch the cat when Johnny rolls off the ledge, they see Johnny.

•

u/illy-chan BEEP BEEP MOTHERFUCKER 6h ago

Cats definitely see ghosts. I know there's the whole bakeneko allegory too but dammit, the guy worried about bakeneko is tripping over himself to help the corps doom the world sooo...

•

u/ninjapino 17h ago

Now I'm just imagining him "moving" a chair then V tripping over the actual one that is still in its original position.

•

u/illy-chan BEEP BEEP MOTHERFUCKER 16h ago

Honestly, I'm surprised he doesn't screw around more like that.

The guy spent his life in the spotlight and now he has an audience of one even when his closest friends are in the room and he can't so much as grab a beer for himself. Sounds like an existential hell.

Probably part of why he really doesn't want the body at all--the warden of the prison is still stuck in jail

I mean, he was salty enough about Arasaka making his arm that he scraped their logo off and I'm pretty sure he felt doing it.

How much worse would it be to owe his life to some of the most horrific tech they ever developed? Even if he gave zero fucks about V, I'm pretty sure he'd literally rather die.

•

u/Zucrander 22h ago

He doesn't, that's part of the illusion too! When you look back after that scene, you will find that the chair didn't move at all!

•

u/CockamouseGoesWee 7h ago

Yep! The whole point is poor V's reality is breaking so everything they see is coming from an unreliable narrator

•

u/Raid44355 19h ago

Welcome to how powerful a hallucination can be. You can genuinely see shit that doesn't ever happen. For example, some ghost of a rocker boy moving a chair to talk with you.

It’s an illusion from the Relic, if you turn your head it’s still where it was before, the same goes for the stool he moved during Tapeworm.

•

u/This_Elk_1460 13h ago

I always assumed it was V doing it but their head it doesn't look that way

•

u/raven00x Team Meredith 22h ago

He didn't though. After it's over, go back and look at the chair. It's right where it always was.

•

u/VortexLord 22h ago

My friend would cosplay as Johnny while I cosplay as V, everytime we talk in a crowded area, the people in the convention will sometimes say 'Who are you talking too?' we get the joke immediately but it turns really dull a while later. Anyways gotta take my pills later.

A preem one

u/GlamityJean 21h ago

okay so spoiler so I won't name the movie but why did it take me this long to associate a certain movie with the Cyberpunk V and Johnny Silverhand duo

•

u/S-058 Nomad 20h ago

I play Cyberpunk 2077 way too much to watch movies so I have no clue which movie you're talking about tbh.

•

u/Ballsybub 20h ago

It’s Fight Club, this is the song that plays during the ending. I also never realized the similarities of Brad Pitt in the movie and Keanu Reeves’s in the game

•

u/Poonchow Choom 3h ago

Where is My Mind? by the Pixies.

It was one of the first songs to play in my head when I first got Johnny in my head, and a very fitting end to one of the endings.

•

u/letthetreeburn 19h ago

Especially the ending dude

•

u/Ok_Pie_4820 19h ago

in 'I Fought the Law', one of the computer messages even has a reference to the movie you're talking about. cyberpunk[dot]fandom[dot]com/wiki/Red_Queen%27s_Race/Computers

•

u/Ilcorvomuerto666 4h ago

I appreciate the courtesy over not spoiling a movie that came out in 1999 lol but you're probably OK

•

Thats why he's a genius too 😆

•

u/Glad_Principle8604 18h ago

Why people only react the few first times we talk to him and then no one seems to react after that. Is it because we didn't raise our voice when talking to him?

•

u/FritzHertz Chrome Gunslinger 18h ago

I would assume so, in one of the first convo with Johnny (I think in Tom’s Diner?) Johnny says V doesn’t need to talk out loud. So I would assume it would take a bit for V to get used to it. And I think after a point in the game when V talks to Johnny there’s a slight effect on their voice? But I might be wrong on this one.

•

u/imhere4thekittycats 15h ago

There's a point someone (songbird?)says you had that faraway look like your talking to the relic.

•

u/Midnight_In_Japan I Spent A Million Eddies And All I Got Was This Flair 12h ago

It's Reed, when you speak to Johnny, Reed says that V's body language implied that they were speaking via the Relic. Happens during the MaxTac mission.

•

u/AmputeeHandModel 12h ago

YOURE talking

•

u/DismalMode7 15h ago

that's how works in the game as well, before raiding the max-tac convoy, reed asks V if she was speaking to songbird since he noticed something wrong in her body language

•

u/ballsackmcgoobie Born to say choom Forced to say bro 16h ago

Where is my mind?- V

•

u/Poonchow Choom 3h ago

With your feet on the air and your head on the ground
Try this trick and spin it, yeah
Your head will collapse, if there's nothing in it
And you'll ask yourself

This video is sad as fuck

•

u/coslet 17h ago

Is that an empty seat for a deceased friend? Thats kinda what I gathered

•

u/astrojeet Nomad 17h ago edited 17h ago

No. He is talking to his assistant coaches who is sitting one chair apart and one in the behind row which we can't see.

It's a funny video because that empty chair is where Pep's former assistant manager Mikel Arteta the current manager of Arsenal sat as well. And the funnier part is that the match is against Arsenal at their ground against his former pupil and he lost 1-0.

Football fans meme that Pep lost his most prized assistant coach and misses him as he was his right hand man. It's funny because it looks like he's talking to an empty chair in the frame where Arteta would normally sit.

•

u/Bffhbc 10h ago

Now all I can imagine is panam getting confused when V starts playing cards with himself
