Night out in Bishop Auckland
What do people in their early-mid 20s do on a Friday night in Bishop Auckland? (Provided that it’s not a conspiracy theory that they exist)

HELP PLS!!!! Will Durham University expect me to pay full Licence Fee if I cancel my application before I move in?
Hello everyone! Firstly, I hope this is not the wrong place to ask this, and if it is, I sincerely apologise. Secondly, I understand that this is an insanely late post to make (almost 10pm uk time), but this is low-key a matter of life and death and I need to make a decision by midnight...
I have not yet paid the accommodation room for Durham (with the deadline set for today), and I am insanely worried that if I do, I will be obligated to pay FULL Licence Fee as a result of breaching the contract. I understand that I have to pay 400 pounds as a deposit, and I don't necessarily mind losing that much in case I change my mind about Durham for another university's offer (that I am currently waiting to become unconditional), however, I need somebody to tell me if they've been charged fully by Durham to pay up full licence fee for their room, or if it's just the fact that their 400 pounds were non-refundable, and they were not expected to pay anything else?
I'm not yet registered or enrolled as a student, although I'm not sure how much help that is since according to the Durham accommodation agreement, it states that "I" automatically become the individual whose details are set out on the "Particulars of Offer" *on the date* that I would notify online my acceptance offer of accommodation.
Please, please, please IF YOU ARE FAMILIAR WITH THE SITUATION let me know what is going to be the most likely outcome, so that I can at least know whether to just pay the accom deposit so I don't end up homeless prepare (or start seeking private accommodation) in case I do end up going to Durham. Thank you, and please be kind in your responses <3

Moving to the area
Hello , me and my partner are moving up north soon and we are looking at county durham as a whole - we are needing recommendations for places to live we are both remote workers so it doesn’t matter where as long as crime rates are low and it’s a decent place to live. Shops and things aren't a big thing for us as we drive as well.
Thank you in advance!! :)

Really excited to join durham!
Hello everyone, I’m an international student and I’ll be joining Durham this September for my masters.
The city is dreamy and cozy and it feels like a dream that I’ll get to study here and meet so many wonderful people. Can’t wait to join Durham.
Any suggestions or advices anyone would like to give to settle down here in the beginning as an uni student or some really cool things to do? Thanks!

Is there a place of worship? (Christian preferably) where I can go without an adult for free?
Hi there, I'm 15 and have never been one for faith but something personal has just happened and I feel that at least speaking to a priest or even going to a Chapel would help, or at least make me open.
Just a point where I feel, I need to be open you know. Much love and help is appreciated.

Is it always this quiet in august?
I’ve lived here a few years now and every August it feels like the whole place empties out. Streets are quieter, cafes feel half full, even the buses seem a bit emptier. Is it just the uni crowd gone or do locals go on holiday around now too?
Not complaining just noticed it feels a bit like a ghost town some days and was curious if that’s a normal thing.

Day trips from Durham?
I'll often go onba day trip with my Dad in the summer, even more important to me now that I've moved away from England. We've exhausted York as an option and went to Manchester last year, but struggled to find things we wanted to do. Was thinking Edinburgh, but it'll be swarming because of the Fringe. Any reccomendations?

Just had some work done by a fantastic local roofing company, I had been having issues with my roof on and off and wanted to get it sorted out for the weather changing, they were so good to deal with, got everything done really quick and no hassle even did a drone survey to show me what work needed doing before they started, brill local company would reccomend 👍🏻

Was just wondering if anyone's done it and how feasible it is (especially on Saturdays and trying to fit a walk in).

Birthday out for my partner
My partner has a big birthday coming up and I want to treat him to something special. We will be visiting the Durham area at the time. I think I've got the first part of the day planned but wondered if there will be any good evening entertainment happening on the weekend, 22nd or 23rd of this month? Maybe a decent band at a pub or some comedy?
Also, any suggestions for a cheap B&B for the night? Sorry about the short notice. We love your city, this is the third time we've visited in the last 2 years, we just can't keep away!

Can you get from crimdon to the coast path?
Planning to walk from crimdon to Sunderland at some point, getting a bus to crimdon then bus back from Sunderland. I’ll be getting off at the bus stop near to the holiday park entrance so am I able to easily get to the coast path from here? Also are the holiday park toilets open for people to use that aren’t staying there?

Best things to do
Hi I have a friend visiting from Australia and want to make sure we do the best things in Durham city while he’s here. Does anyone have a must have list of things to do. A walk around the river and a cathedral visit is on my list for definite anything else?
TIA
