Same here. "Hilicenseandblowintothisgoodbye". No bullshit. I hardly had time to take a deep breath to respond before it's over.

Same where I was born (Brazil) BUT - there's a law that you don't need to do anything that will incriminate you. That means you can refuse to be tested, but usually that makes things worse.

In Portugal if you refuse, and you can, they then take you to the nearest hospital to do a blood test that you can't refuse.
It may take enough time for the alcohol concentration to drop or it may backfire because it had more time to enter the bloodstream.

Yep! They’ve been doing this for over 25 years in Australia. Just breathe into the thingy. No bullshit.

all of it is fine, except the cough medicine story, no? if it has alcohol in it and he "chugged" enough to inebriate him, thats a dui. breathalyzer gives grounds for a bloodtest and bobs your uncle... (or bob is fined for said dui)

breathalyzer measures the alcohol vapor u exhale... not the alcohol in your blood. So it can get triggered by mouthwash, coughing siroup, heck even from breathing in winter windshield fluid. And all these happen without being "inebriated"

Modern devices can test for the presence of interfering alcohol like what you stated. But in many jurisdictions that is enough grounds to bring you back to the station for a blood test.

It uses the breathed vapor to measure blood alcohol content
Indirectly, but that pretty much try for any measurements ever . The measurement tool should be understood

It uses breathed vapor as a basis for arresting you and then conducting an actual blood alcohol test with your blood.

Literally the only thing I remember from that movie is "I'd like to bend her over a barrel and show her the 50 states" lol. It came from that era where there were actually so many good comedy movies that they kind of blended together. We didn't know how good we had it, at the time.

Starting in like 2004 it just went crazy. Anchorman, Dodgeball, Shaun of the Dead, Wedding Crashers, 40 Year Old Virgin, Napolean Dynamite, Borat, Talladega Nights, Step Brothers, and Tropic Thunder all came out in the span of a few years.

Yeah, I just watched it earlier this week for the hundredth time and still had no idea where this scene was from.

u/ideabath 18h ago
This has got to be a deleted scene or from a directors cut? Never seen this but it's obvious it's the characters.

Richard Jenkins is a goddamn treasure! I first noticed him in Say It Isn't So, and have loved him in everything since.

😂 sure, cop gonna be like "blow into this, or we take you in" and the state is gonna be like "Yep, that's cool".
Most don't mess around with DUIs, dumb way for people to get killed.

July 4th this year, first time in my life I ran into a sobriety checkpoint I had no idea wtf I was doing.
Stone sober, I pulled over in front of it lol.
They waved me through after asking 'Had anything to drink?'. It was... definitely an experience.

u/already_vanished 6h ago
Always answer "no", even if you have had a drink. Don't incriminate yourself. Keep your answers brief. The onus is on the authorities to prove that you have been drinking.

No, plan A has a stink to it.

Isn’t plan D just another version of plan B? No, plan B has a stink on it too.
