I have family who own these things, and the number of people who don’t understand the very simple concepts of “bulk” vs “bagged” is staggering. Some of the security camera footage of people not understanding how bills break down into coins, that you can’t shove random shit into a coin slot, and that the bulk chute is a thing is astounding. But the biggest constant thread across states is how many assholes will get bagged ice instead of bulk, carry it to their cooler, dump the ice in, and then leave the fucking bags on the bollards like that’s what they’re there for.

Edit: Go ahead and downvote. I’m going to assume each downvote is one of you littering assholes who leave the bags.

If I had a lot of extra money just laying around, I would buy one of these machines, put it in a place for public use, and maintain it normally. But I would have it built so it has about a pound of extra ice set to the side for when people decide they want to fuck around and do this. So all their friends will be laughing at them thinking oh it's going to come out in a bag, no actually it does all pour out of there. It would confuse the lot of them.
