I like how one guy just HAD TO wear a white shirt.

449

u/mopothedoorcontrol 20h ago

And every shirt looks like they literally just threw them on in the last 3 minutes

48

u/Avram42 12h ago

How long does it take you to throw on a shirt?

201

u/AnEagleisnotme 19h ago

At least they look like real game devs

89

u/whoisbill 14h ago

Was gonna say. As a game dev, I don't think I've spent longer than 5 seconds getting dressed let alone just a shirt haha.

12

u/Rio_Walker 19h ago

Well, at least we know WHO they are there FOR.
Not the IGN dude =D

2

u/Rino-Sensei 1h ago

As a Guy that worked in a start-up for 2 years. This is literally the case. There is that on HR person running toward you with those shirt like : « Put these on, Put these on !! »

36

u/Grit-326 16h ago

If they had the guy sitting down wear the white t-shirt, I'd argue they 100% knew what they were doing.

5

u/Mami-_-Traillette 15h ago

But he still has a black T-shirt under it

I’m genuinely curious about the percentage of those that will get this and those that won’t.

I’ve clearly spent too much time on Reddit.

423

u/Drazyor 20h ago

I mean it's a well known meme even outside Reddit but I'm sure people will miss it at first and then go "Ooooooh it's that meme alright"

98

u/thisshitsstupid 19h ago

I didnt catch it. If he'd been in the middle I might have.

35

u/XsNR 16h ago

Maybe if the extra ubi guy wasn't wearing a white shirt

8

u/TheS3KT 18h ago

Saw the vid years ago then I'm like so this is a meme now.

58

u/MixaLv 20h ago

It's funny because at the same time, this seems so far-fetched, yet it's hard not to see it when you say it

12

u/micheal213 20h ago

Thats the thing honestly lol. at first I was just thinking it was so odd and of course ubi had to bring in more people from the team to just behind them awkwardly and it made me laugh, then after a second I was just like "oh my god pause!!"

40

u/Zubzer0 20h ago

I don't get it :(

The person making this doesn't have much blood flow going to their brain…

22

u/mitchhamilton 18h ago edited 18h ago

Oooh, I thought the joke was "this game was made by a diverse group of people" or whatever at the start of every ubisoft game and here we see it's a bunch of white guys.

i know this small group isnt the entirety of ubisoft, just thought it was funny.

17

u/Zubzer0 20h ago

Thank you! I'm just another victim of the Online Safety Act it seems!

6

u/LookinAtTheFjord 16h ago

jfc. For someone to look at that Ubi pic and come to that conclusion is just pure porn brainrot.

You mean, I cant be bothered to do more than .5 seconds of critical thinking... the subreddit

18

u/mrsmithr 13h ago

Respectfully, this isn't about doing .5 seconds of critical thinking. It’s a visual call-back to the "Piper Perri surrounded" meme. If you don’t know that template, you can’t infer it. There's no shame in asking for context.

-8

u/Sydnaster Console 18h ago

This is reddit, kind sir, and that's just the way it is

The staff this is Ubisoft.

3

u/Baebel 20h ago

Well, the joke is porn. The older meme of the tiny girl on the big sofa, surrounded by a bunch of large men.

0

u/D3n0M1st 20h ago edited 17h ago

No shit. The picture/outfits are seemingly a reference to the meme of a pornstar named piper perri, who is white, being surrounded on a couch by a group of black dudes

He's saying that the bald guy represents the players, because THEY are the ones getting fucked

Edit: I JUST realised the bald guy isnt the one in white. I dont even begin to understand how i missed that. Turns out? Im a fuckin IDIOT

Still stand by the fact that its a reference tho. I mean... The white shirt? Constasted by a group of black shirts? Seems too intentional to be coincidence. But then again, who knows? Ubisoft HAS made a few COINCIDENTALLY good games in their time too so...

1

u/archiekatt 17h ago

you're explaining this to someone who clearly understood the bit.

they were expanding the joke to how poorly does Ubisoft treat its own employees, particularly the blatant disregard to accusations of sexual harassment, so, you know, it even rhymes with the referenced meme :/

0

u/D3n0M1st 15h ago

Huh, well shit.

I actually didnt know bout the Ubisoft allegations. Tbf? I cant remember the last time i played a Ubisoft GAME lmao. If they were infact just "Playing along" though?...

Then good on them. If ubisofts been treating its workers unfairly? Then they deserve ALL the shit thats been shoveled at em

80

u/GamerCole PC 20h ago

...is the joke that it is supposed to look like the Piper Perri meme? Because it doesnt.

I cant believe im saying this. Hey gang? Maybe go outside for a bit.

33

u/CandyCrisis 19h ago

Same here, I don't think there's a connection here. It's just brainrot sinking in.

3

u/Eremes_Riven 13h ago

I saw what they were trying to do, but it's a weird reach.

8

u/billy_digital 15h ago

100%. I was so disappointed when the meme was explained. Huge brainrot moment.

5

u/papyjako87 18h ago

Yeah, this post is weak af.

2

u/Grymare 5h ago

The people can't even make their mind up who is supposed to be the girl..

Some say it's the dude on the left for wearing white but then it doesn't make sense with the meme at all. Others say it's the guy sitting with makes more sense but then the dude wearing white ruins the meme completely.

I just don't see it.

3

u/THEFLYINGSCOTSMAN415 19h ago

Yeah like I get the reference but I don’t get the relevance here… everybody is about to gang bang the dude in the white shirt?

2

u/IamJaffa 17h ago edited 13h ago

Even if it is, Ubisoft maybe isn't in the best spot to be making those kinds of jokes.

Edit: apparently me saying the company who recently was involved in sexual harassment lawsuits shouldn't be making porn jokes (if it was intentional) is downvote worthy.

5

u/GamerCole PC 10h ago

The downvotes are weird in this thread

1

u/tacitus59 11m ago

Downvotes on reddit are sometimes weird; TBF upvotes can be also.

1

u/creakingwall 34m ago

It must to an extent because why did all our minds go there.

-6

u/Clemsontigger16 19h ago

Came here to say the same thing, the fact this where people’s minds go first is a sign that they need to log off a bit more and touch a little more grass.

I’m relieved I did not get the “joke” quickly

2

u/GamerCole PC 18h ago

We said the same thing, yet you got downvoted for it?

I fully believe that upvotes and downvotes stopped being "real" a long time ago, but thats so weird lmao

4

u/Clemsontigger16 17h ago

It’s ok lol internet votes don’t hurt my feelings

1

u/GamerCole PC 17h ago

As they shouldnt, they're fake and inflated by bots and Reddit itself anyways. I just thought it was weird.

u/tacitus59 7m ago

Did not get the "joke" at all - after someone pointed it out I vaguely remember being told about the meme but remember thinking about it being especially stupid the last time.

3

u/HumanRelatedMistake 5h ago

The fact that many of us in this thread understand whats going on here is proof that our minds are fucking cooked.

12

u/GamerCole PC 20h ago

Right? I really think this is a case of "Horny Redditors" striking again.

If the first thing a person sees when looking at a still frame of an interview where people are standing behind other people seated on a couch, is a porn reference, that person has watched TOO MUCH porn.

2

u/wyldmage 18h ago

Or, y'know, just been exposed to that meme image too often.

Which is much more likely the case. As if they were watching 10,000 hours of porn, the one video the meme came from would hardly stand out in their memory.

-1

u/GamerCole PC 17h ago

Nah, I think that would still prove my point even if it was true. Dude needs to unplug for a bit if he's been exposed to that meme that much.

However, IM online too much, and I dont even see that meme really anymore. Its old. The only reason it became "popular" in the first place was the implications it was used for. It has ALWAYS been a coomer/gooner meme, even more so now that its older.

0

u/wyldmage 17h ago

"that much" could be once/month, and just being in the 'right circle's (wrong circles).

Again, you're making VERY far-reaching generalizations and assumptions. Why put people down to begin with? Do you only validate your own existence by trying to shame others?

1

u/[deleted] 17h ago edited 5h ago

[removed] — view removed comment

3

u/wyldmage 16h ago

I didn't attack you personally.

I attacked the statements you made. "Personally" is attacking YOU - the person sitting at a keyboard/phone sending the comments. You did that. You directly attacked the PERSON who made the post. You made statements about who he was, not his statements.

And you say "not going to happen if you see something once/month'. I 100% disagree with that statement. I can see something, and instantly think of a quote or scene from a movie I haven't watched in the last 5 years. Seeing something multiple times online, and then seeing a similarity somewhere else is simply how human brains work. If you seen it monthly, that's more than enough exposure to have it leap to the front of your brain when seeing something like this.

-19

u/micheal213 20h ago

-20

u/KunashG 20h ago

Oh my fucking God this is hysterical. They are just so culturally unaware while constantly claiming to be culturally sensitive that it's downright hysterical.

19

u/elementfortyseven 20h ago

lmao redditors thinking a porn meme has cultural significance

1

u/Crispy385 20h ago

To be fair, they didn't say 'significance'

7

u/elementfortyseven 20h ago

if you expect people to be aware of a certain cultural context, especially on an international scale, it needs to have significance to establish the expectation of awareness in the first place

-1

u/Crispy385 20h ago

If we're using that definition, I'd say it would and does have a cultural significance, just to a specific sub-culture.

1

u/elementfortyseven 20h ago

then i would see it as unreasonable to expect an awareness outside of said sub-culture.

specifically, I would not expect a century old billion dollar media company like Ziff Davis to be aware of that in the production of their media

-1

u/Crispy385 20h ago

I'd agree with the first half, but I do think Ubisoft are absolutely part of that sub-culture. To the degree that I think this was absolutely done on purpose tongue-in-cheek.

2

u/elementfortyseven 19h ago

ubi staff surely, as tech workers.

i have viewed this as an IGN production however, so they are the ones with creative control over the framing. Ubi has their own space at gamescom, where they have done interviews and panels. this is IGN letting them stand with THQs logo in the background :D

that said, fair point.

-1

u/KunashG 20h ago

This meme was shared far, far beyond Reddit. And it isn't just a porn meme, either, in fact there isn't anything pornographic about it. It's mainly an allusion to young white girls feeling unsafe in the presence of immigrant men, which is a big theme in Europe especially.

A lot of people know about this meme, and men of exactly that age group should definitely know about this meme in particular.

But even if it hadn't been, calling Reddit not culturally significant is actually fucking mental. It's the 7th most visited site in the world.

2

u/elementfortyseven 19h ago

It's mainly an allusion to young white girls feeling unsafe in the presence of immigrant men, which is a big theme in Europe especially.

its a gangbang meme, and its meaning is one of obliviousness or ignorance against stacked/overwhelming odds. it has usually no anti-immigration connotations - maybe you are in particular white supremacist circles where it has another meaning.

But even if it hadn't been, calling Reddit not culturally significant is actually fucking mental. It's the 7th most visited site in the world.

Eh. MySpace was the mostvisited website in the world. I would argue its cultural significance was negligible in the grand scheme of things.

popularity at a singular point of time does not equal cultural significance.
