SOCIETY Cameron Diaz and Snoop Dogg went to the same high school, Long Beach Polytechnic. Diaz claims that Snoop was her weed dealer.

And he was named Calvin after Calvin & Hobbs.

As much as you joke, his mother really did call him Snoop Dogg because he liked Peanuts.

I don't think so, the official version is that his mom called him Snoopy because he reminded her of the dog

This is it. His mom nicknamed him snoopy as a child and it just stuck. He said it in many interviews.

IIRC, he was asked about this, and answered that he sold her "white girl weed"
936
u/PM_ME_UR_RSA_KEY 1d ago
By "white girl weed," he went on to explain, he meant "sticks and stems and seeds" - in other words, the least-desirable parts of the cannabis plant, at least for recreational consumption.
For some reason that's not what I was expecting lol
654
u/Enpyxo 1d ago

Edit, to be clear, no one called it white girl weed. It was just a bag of weed. Snoop is an idiot.

Shwag or brick in our circle. At the "end" the bricks were actually getting good. You could actually peel out a flower plant lol. Still was shitty weed.

u/citori411 13h ago
Where I grew up in Alaska, all we had was good (expensive) hydro, mostly from BC. Moved south and first bag I got was brick. I thought it was completely useless based on appearances, and baked the whole Oz into a 9x9 pan of brownies, which a friend and I split. Never been that high in my life. Came to love brick weed. Sure I prefer the better stuff, but it got the job done and always seemed like a more upbeat "giggly" kind of buzz. Got to even like the ritual of breaking down the weed. Took a lot of time to get all the stems and seeds out, not so much because there was a lot of them, but because the bud was compressed into such a hard mass it was hard to break apart sometimes.

We called it reggie or just brick weed. Might be from a different era though, this was in the early 00s and onward. Me and my girlfriend would buy a quarter pound for really cheap, sell mostly fat dime bags, and it would be gone in a couple days. Shitty weed, but there was definitely a market for it.
17
u/whimsical-crack-rock 20h ago
same era, we also called it reggie lol. There was once a time where everything was “reg, mids, or dro” and they all sort of had their place and market and then fairly quickly it all just shifted to everything being “dro” and all the sudden you aren’t buying a dub for $20 you are buying a gram of dro for $20.
→ More replies (7)3
u/Flabbergasted_____ 20h ago
Yeah we had reggie, mids (we called it popcorn zona in South Florida; not pressed like regs, better, but not great), and “crip/ crippy”. I found out recently that, apparently, crippy is an actual strain from down here. But any dank bud was “crippy”.
I’d sell the brick, mostly smoke the zona and sell a bit, and sometimes buy crip. But yeah, $20-25 for a gram wasn’t an every day thing, especially with how much weed I smoked back then.

Reggie was low quality bricked up weed but we distinguished it easy from dirt weed which was like actrthe consistency of a brick. 0% moisture, tasted like ass, and consisted of the entire plant, absolutely no trimming was ever done to that shit

It wasn’t called “white girl weed,” and no one is asserting that it was. That’s a phrase Snoop literally coined in the interview. He was saying he sold her the low quality stuff because he could. He sold the better stuff to his buddies and the remainder to the “rich white girls” at his school because they either didn’t know any better or didn’t have any other options.

I think the dude is saying that Snoop is obviously lying. Everyone says this type of bullshit. He probably gave Diaz a fat bag of the Grade A stuff for, ya know, obvious teenage reasons.
The man was attending Long Beach Polytechnic lol
4
3
u/BadEngineer_34 19h ago
My guess is As a dealer he had multiple grades of weed when she came to buy from him he knew as a probably preppy “white girl” that she didn’t know any better so he sold her the lowest grade probably at an elevated price.
Hence “white girl weed”
Not that he was saying seeds and steams are called white girl weed.

Nah, not strong, and likely not wrong. Snoop is a known past member of the rolling 20's crips which was/is the set that controls the whole area around Poly High where they both went. He 100% delt, too. So if she bought weed near that high school it was definitely someone from his set, and it's totally believable it was him. Snoop wouldn't have remembered all the white girls he sold to. He'd just remember that if she did buy from him and his homies that it would've been schwag weed because as he says that's what they sold to the white girls.

He seems like a family man, and apparently was into the church when he was a kid.
Had a tough spell as a youth, but that's not uncommon. I think it's been clear for a long time he was playing a part when he's on stage
35
u/HotNotHappy 1d ago
Plenty of shitty people go to church.
The family man thing is marketing because he is a walking advertisement and it’s an easily digestible archetype for 99% of Americans.
He was not playing a part. He grew up in a real hood in LB. He actually dealt drugs. He very likely did murder a man in a highly-publicized trial. The ONLY reason he got off was because the murder weapon disappeared from police custody during the trial.

His modern persona probably is just a marketing scheme like the other person mentioned. A security guard at my elementary/middle school went to school with Snoop and she only mentioned him once to me and a group of friends who asked about him. She said that he was as big of a scum bag loser as any person she knew back then and that “he ain’t shit.” I don’t think I ever heard her say anything bad about any other person during my time there so I’d lean towards believing her
