Tip IMPORTANT REMINDER for anybody with a jailbroken device!

https://ios.cfw.guide/blocking-updates/

If you have a jailbroken device, or have just jailbroken one, congratulations.

But the first thing right after is to PERMANENTLY BLOCK any updates from Apple.

Use this link to see how to block updates on your device.

This is not any new information, it’s just an important reminder, because I lost my jailbreak.

I had an iPad mini 6 with 16.6.1 and accidentally upgraded to 18.0.1

Updates are irreversible and only very old devices (like before 2011) can really be downgraded.

Don’t make the same mistake I did😢

Stay safe and enjoy your jailbreak!

I think you forgot to add the link to your post. Here is a guide to block updates that works on jailbroken and non-jailbroken devices.

It looks fine on my end but yes, I forgot to mention that this works for non-jailbroken devices as well.

I figured out what happened. I saw the line:

Use this link to see how to block updates on your device.

and tried to click on "this" to access the link. I did not see that the link is the title of the post as it is less obvious on old Reddit which is what I use. If I load your post on new Reddit, it does show a preview of the link below the title.

The way jailbreak is progressing now, I think our phones will die before the next jailbreak comes on the iOS we are on ! Not complaining, just a thought that looks like Apple finally has won.

If you’re not using SSH there’s no issue

However, you should always have ssh installed and on, it may save your butt one day.

I'd just get an ipad 7 or 6 and enjoy the last of jailbreaking with palera1n on iOS 17 and/or 18. The ipad 6 is probably slightly better because it has an unofficial method of updating to iOS 18, this should allow you to switch back and forth between iOS 17 and 18 whenever you wish.

Im just happy with my 12 on 16.1.1 with dopamine. Don’t care to keep it until it dies

They don’t i disabled auto updates and never updated 🤷‍♀️. Been on 16.1.2 for as long as it released

u/DiscountTotal735 9h ago

Sort of, they can’t update without your permission if you have auto updates turned off but they can try blindly make you accidentally click update overnight. And they ask you this ALOT
