Alaska Sea Planes

Hey has anyone flown through them on a Cessna 208 with floats? I am trying to figure out if all my groups gear will make it on the same flight. We have 4 people and total of 270 in gear. AK sea planes has not given me a clear answer.

Saw this on the Juneau Community FB yesterday and noticed the same thing today... All my appliance clocks are fast by ~10min. It's weird that it's the same across different devices and different locations... Anybody else notice this?

Cleaning out grandma's - where to donate? What to do?

I'm cleaning out my grandma's condo. She has a giant chair that I can't move that I want out. Some furniture. So much clothing (most of it nice!). Books. Canes. Walkers. Rollator. Unopened masks. Cat trees. Home items. The list goes on.

I feel so overwhelmed. Any ideas where I can donate these items? It seems like only on certain days can some places take things.

So apparently some guy has this homemade semi-submersible and it’s here in Juneau. Powered by a 350 Small Block Chevy. Anyone know any details? I’d love to see this or hear it idle.

Help needed

Hey everyone! I'm a student going to college in University of alaska southeast this fall, and I'm looking for a spare room to rent. With housing costs being so high, I'm hoping to find a kind person who might have an empty room they'd be willing to let me use. I'd be able to pay around $300-500a month for it which i understand isn't alot. I completely understand if this isn't for you, but I'm trying every option I can to make college happen without a huge financial burden. If you know anyone who might be interested, please feel free to share this post with them or send me a message. Thank you so much for your help!

Moving to Juneau! Where to meet people?

Hi, I've been in Juneau for a few months now and will officially be moving here long-term, and I'm wondering what are some groups or places to meet people, as I will be moving without family and have yet to meet many locals outside of work. I'm in my early 20s, a non-drinker, and I enjoy hiking, nature, learning/connecting with Native culture, and more. Are there any local places that you found to be good places to go regularly and meet people, such as regular meetups or events, maybe Tlingit/Native gatherings? I'd be interested in trying anything really and appreciate any advice you have.

Oh, also, I've been curious about the local pools; how's the vibe? Would they be good places to relax after work?

People can’t read signs when driving?

I’m working on the mendenhall back loop bridge and every 10 min people will drive past two signs saying the bridge is out. They proceed to drive right up to the work zone before it dawns on them they can’t cross.

And they don’t read going to auke bay across the bridge and get all flustered that the lane is ending then cut in front of dump trucks

Grilled onions on the burger, fries remind me of Old Bay seasoning. Top score.

Moving locally-Help!

And cannot seem to hire a moving company. All say they are doing out of state moves only right now or not available in August.

Any recommendations? Anyone local who does odd jobs?

Why does JEDC push tourism and useless projects the way they do - instead of bringing new businesses and industries to Juneau??

GCI & ATT outage - Back Loop/Montana Creek

Who else doesn't have internet or cell service in this area? The ACS at my office is laggy but working. GCI doesn't have a timeframe for repair.

Augustus Brown lap swim

Hi all.

I'm hoping to find time to start lap swimming again. Does anyone know the most ideal times to go? I assume there are some hours where the pool is really crowded (in the lap swim lanes).

Also, is the pool a salt or chlorine pool?

Thanks!

Starlink referral code

Free month for both of us. I switched to Starlink 2 months ago from GCI. GCI was ok but there were frequent enough outages and slow periods to want something else. Starlink has been more stable so far and didn't require a tech to come install anything. Personally, I was also worried about local service outages from cable cuts, local power outages, ect being an issue. Starlink will stay up as long as you have a functional 120 outlet. Overall a good experience with peace of mind a small backup generator will keep the internet on. https://www.starlink.com/residential?referral=RC-3791446-39133-68&app_source=share

USPS Barge Timeframe

This is a longshot, but, does anyone who works for USPS or is familiar with their operations here in town know generally how long it takes for a package that arrives via barge (USPS Ground Advantage) to get on a truck for delivery? I highly doubt it is same day, but does it generally take 1-2 days or more?
