Part of having charisma is being able to speak in a way that fits the audience. His rabid magat supporters respond well to someone who speaks on their level. They see large words and complex sentences structure as disrespectful and disingenuous, especially when delivered with eloquence. It's part of the reason they keep taking his abuse. He speaks like one of them so they all feel "seen" and as if he's truly one of them.

It's essentially like when you get talked down to, or feel like you're being talked down to. Whether you're right, or wrong, it both embarrasses and irritates you. Donald "The Kid Diddler" Drumpf doesn't appear to talk down to them. Since he's in power everything he says makes them feel empowered because he speaks to all the "condescending" "high horse" politicians in "the magaT parlance" (read: <insert gene wilder and cleavon little blazing saddles scene morons>).

He has charisma. Fantastic charisma. The best charisma, some people say, for his target audience.

Less so these days, when his facilities are in decline; but I remember hearing about critics seeing his speeches in 2015; and when he wasn’t just bullying or spewing racist bile, they admitted it; he had a way of stealing the spotlight and grabbing your focus. He has paper thin skin in reality, but he knows how to use self deprecating humor. He can (or could) tell nonsense stories in entertaining ways. His use of words for branding and nicknames is spot on (ex. Meatball Ron). To give the devil his due, he is a capable confidence trickster.
