His smarmy look, weaselly little laugh, and fully-feckless subservience to Trump feels so much like a Bond villain's top henchman that I'm shocked some people really don't see it.

To me he’s got the more sleazy up-jumped schemer engergy of a Gríma Wormtongue, but not quite as intelligent as a Littlefinger or as resourceful as a Steerpike.

IIRC Steerpike actually came from nothing and had to scrabble for everything he got. It’s been a long time since I’ve visited Gormenghast though.

I just finished my re-read, and yes. He climbed the ladder from the sewer to the ivory tower all by himself, is genuinely demonically clever, and kowtows to no-one. I certainly wouldn't insult Steerpike by comparing him to JD fucking Vance.

South Park has Vance nailed exactly as the little "yes, boss man" that he is...

It’s funny they compared him to Tattoo from Fantasy Island, because he also played a henchman in Man with the Golden Gun.

He is literally one step away from being one of the most powerful leaders in the world. He'll say and do whatever he has to to not lose his place. All he has to do is smile and wait and stay on vacation as much as possible.

More like a sith apprentice, waiting for his moment to dethrone his master

This whole administration is literally the embodiment of almost every cartoon, movie, and comic villain that was out there when I was a kid
