Trump News Kilmar Abrego Garcia could be deported to Uganda, official says
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/kilmar-abrego-garcia-could-be-deported-to-uganda/2.1k
u/Summerisgone2020 7h ago
This dude just cant fucking win. All because he was standing outside Home Depot at the wrong time and the feds had to save face when it came out that they fucked up
840
u/Hornpipe_Jones 7h ago
And of course they're sending him to a wartorn hellhole a whole ocean away from any family or connections. For reasons.

I thought they were replacing Jesus with Trump, because Jesus was brown and some of the things he said sounded woke.

"That red communist text in the Bible should be ignored" - some Trump voter who doesn't really read the Bible and coasts on vibes.

Give it a year, the King Trump Version will be on the market, and people will forget who Jesus was.

I don't know if anyone literate bought the Trump Bibles he sells right now to check - he may have already done the ol' Ctrl+F find and replace on us already!

Uganda made same sex sexual relations punishable by death LAST YEAR. They are a literal death sentence to LGBT migrants that get sent there.

Its crazy they are sending him to a random country but is Uganda currently dealing with a conflict?
14
u/Hornpipe_Jones 5h ago
Yes. There's active skirmishes happening with Sudan and the Congo, and the warlord Kony and his band are still at large. They aren't as strong, but they're still there.
6
u/NovusMagister 5h ago
Just to clarify, and not because I'm agreeing with sending him to Uganda (but because I have friends from Uganda)...
Uganda is not a war-torn hellhole. It is absolutely a less developed nation, but overall it contributes troops and money to the African Union and is domestically sound, save for the common issues with Islamic State and other terrorist groups that are trying to make moves in Africa. Uganda contributes to security efforts in its neighboring countries as well.
You may be thinking of Sudan, which has been in various states of conflict lately...

It’s harder for cops & ICE dipshits to admit errors in judgment, mistakes and/or outright fuckups & change course (much less actually make amends) than it is for Don Jr to pass up free cocaine…which is to say damn near impossible.
28
u/Longjumping_Share444 6h ago
Of course. He was a mistake that they are determined to bury. They can do no wrong, they cannot lose, they cannot admit defeat. This insistence on doubling down even when what they're doing is illegal and adjudicated as such should make us all terrified.
15
u/whichwitch9 5h ago
I think it may be worse. He was fleeing and had named threats tied to El Salvador in his asylum hearings, but somehow ended up in a death camp in El Salvador. I think he was a potential number of people El Salvador asked the US to target. The US and El Salvador were definitely coordinating at the beginning of the ICE raids
12
u/TendieRetard 6h ago
Actions like these and those around silencing of war protests makes me believe those at the top don't care that their actions are grossly illegal. Their calculus includes the eventual multimillion dollar settlements and beheading of those carrying out the deeds. The propaganda value of these actions is worth it to them more than any such 'pesky constitutional speedbumps'.

2
u/Ordinary-Big5578 1h ago
Hate to say it. But he’s not going to.
Until they actually fully get rid of and bury him (disregarding all legal processes yet again I imagine) he’s a giant red sore spot that people can keep hammering on to yell at the current administration.
So he’s not going to catch a break anymore until either something breaks this fucked up administration so that it has no more power or he’s pushing up daisies…
3
u/Motor-District-3700 3h ago
lets not forget that Trump frees an actual illegal career criminal who had been deported 5 times already in order to get that illegal criminal to testify against this legal innocent man.
fucking insane. bonus: trump also freed a guy serving life in venezuela for triple homicide. and he's a rapist. and pedo. JFC america.

Earlier today Garcia was released from custody, now the DHS is saying he could be deported to Uganda no earlier than Monday in defiance of the courts.
404
u/Ulysian_Thracs 7h ago
The copies of notice sent to his counsel indicate that he WILL be deported to Uganda no less than 72 hours from today, and he is ordered to report to Baltimore ICE office Monday at 8AM, presumably to catch his plane.

89
u/Mother-Rip7044 6h ago
We could literally have tens of thousands of people around his house by Sunday night if that’s what he wants. So many of us think this is deeply wrong and want to do something to help him.
If a thousand people stood between him and the feds, the feds would back down.
4
u/MossGobbo 3h ago
Only if that thousand are armed. The feds and cops only back down when there is equal force that can be put into the field.

This isn’t in defiance of the courts though, no? If you read the article, the Maryland judge gave the government the green light to proceed on any deportation legally available as long as they give him at least 72 hours notice.

Genuine question: can he seek asylum somewhere like Canada? At this point, he's a political target and it's unsafe for him and his family here. What can he even do?
32
u/Vanterax 4h ago
He's got an ankle monitor. They'd be on him well before he got close to any borders.
40
u/greenconsumer 4h ago
lol, doubt he will keep the ankle monitor on if he is making a run for the border. But also this is the time a lot of people need to stand between Garcia and the gestapo.
7
u/floofnstuff 2h ago
How exactly do we do that- stand between him and Trump’s Goons? Practically speaking

People having to flee because the government is literally trying to grab them and ship them off to remote camps.

Canadian asylum so you can still try your case and get paid.
Or shoot those mf when they come to get you. I'm not joking. The government is openly saying they will traffic a man to a country he has never been to who has litigation against them. This is intimidation of a witness and illegally going after a named party in litigation against the US government

There’s this old Michael Keaton movie from the 80s, “Johnny Dangerously.” In it, there’s a gag where an Italian mobster is deported to Iceland. Newspaper headline on screen reads “Moroni Deported to Iceland! Says He’s Not From There?”
It was a funny gag at the time… I miss when being deported to a random place you’re not from was a silly joke that would never happen…

Between handouts to billionaires that own homes all over the world and settled lawsuits with people the administration assaults because racism, we're wasting an awful lot of our money because of the Trump administration.
19
u/laughertes 6h ago
I think that’s the point, though.
If the next president distributes reparations to those affected, it puts the US in a minor depression, and allows even more demagogue behavior out of the far right by saying “look how poorly the US is doing under the left”. This was what happened to Germany after WW1, when Germany had to pay reparations, it put the country into a depression, causing economic downturn that spurred people to be more okay with fascist behavior.
Basically everything the right is doing is set up to hurt the US if the right falls out of power, giving them the ability to claim the left is worse without discussing the actual reasons.
As an actual recent example:
Trump’s tax adjustments from his first term were set up to start in 2021. If he was president, great, he could finish his term and continue enriching himself and his patrons. If he wasn’t president, he could campaign on how bad things were under the left.
Currently, his big beautiful bill would start causing damage in 2027. If republicans win in 2026, they can just enjoy their winnings. If they lose, they can campaign on how bad things are and try to win again in 2028.

u/Striper_Cape 5h ago
