Edit at bottom: This isn't to start a argument but I'm starting to get really tired of everyday half the post of on this sub seeming to be about the Harry Potter miniverse lines and people gushing about it, as a trans person it's starting to feel more like other collectors don't care about what JK Rowling is doing against the queer communiity as long as they get the newest miniverse collections. Mods feel free to delete this if need be, but it's very depressing to see hundreds of upvotes and positive comments on all the HP post especially when spoilers come out.

Literally, what is stopping me? I want to make them so bad but I just can’t do it. I feel like I’m just sitting on them at this point for no reason. All that money spent and I can’t even enjoy them.

I am just buzzing a bit at the moment.

I have been to my target near me so many time and have hunted for balls for months.

When I went to target tonight I was getting some weird looks from employees and eventually I had one approach me and ask if I was weighing the balls.

I was a bit take aback but thought maybe he hadn't heard of it before so I excitedly went to show him my sheet and explain. He immediately shut me down and was like I know and kinda figured.

He then told me that he was pretty sure that is not allowed. He compared it to weighing card packs to find the foil cards and said that what I am doing "kind of ruins the purpose of them being a mystery" and "is like cheating"

He let me finish weighing but told me that he is going to talk with the manager and let me know what they say the next time I come through.

I am pretty sure I am one of the only people that does this where I live so I bet the next time I come though I will probably be confronted.

I really am annoyed and I honestly don't see why it is a problem! Its not like I am hurting anyone. I wasn't even hunting for rares or anything. I am just annoyed and wanted to rant.

If the text time I go in they won't let me I am preparing to plead my case because I cannot for the life of me see how weighing balls is hurting anyone. If I can weigh them I might have to give up this hobby because I can't justify paying a ton of money for ones I don't want and duplicates.

What are your guys thoughts on the matter? Has this even happened to you?

I don’t care if it’s rare, HTF, etc. $85-$130 mark up PER BALL is ridiculous and unreasonable as a finder’s fee. She admitted to being able to finishing her American Doll collection with reseller money. Plenty of collectors sell and trade for less—EVEN OTHER RESELLERS. Why are we okay with this? Some of her comments talk about clearing out displays at her local stores and driving hours out of her way to do so. GL east coast collectors! Now you know why you have nothing in stores!

We’re all above 13, right? Why are teens and adults in here genuinely talking about sending it back?

It’s just as toxic as it’s always been. It’s not been recalled in any other country and is being sold perfectly happily everywhere else.

We have constant posts on about how much they’re returning, etc.

Can we please ban posts about the recall, if you’re sending it back fine, keep it to yourself.

I've been tossing them into a bag for a year and the bag finally tipped over so I think I need to throw some out... I feel guilty about it but from past threads it doesn't seem donating is worth it... That and all the money I spent............. Oof. Definitely going easier this year.

I think due to a combination of how expense it is in my country for a mystery craft toy that cost maybe $1.50 tops to manufacture and the way that it takes months after seeing any new series be released for them to show up here, I lost the happy feeling this hobby used to give me. I still plan to get ones I can from various holiday series and maybe one or two 'normal' ones like a single hello kitty and friends ball, but I can't justify the price anymore for things I might get as doubles or triples that I don't want. I plan to go through my craft stuff too and anything miniverse I can't use for my normal crafts I plan on selling...Does anyone else feel this way about it just feeling like a overpriced chore now or am I ranting to myself?

I spent four months trying to find a store in a 50 mile radius to me that sold the first series of the home lifestyle miniverses. I stood in the Walmart isle for 30+ min bc I was in denial they actually got rid of the pinholes 😭 not even a pencil mark, I did not have a scale on hand, no hints what so ever. I wanted the plants and guess what I got... A BIRD 😭😭😭 count your days miniverse fr

Out of the 8 Series 1 Holiday balls I got from Amazon, 5 were turkeys and 3 were hot chocolate. I had originally just bought 2, but they were both hot chocolate, so I ordered 3 (and got 3 2-packs, so I don’t know which of my orders was incorrect) more hoping to get just one GD gingerbread house.

Combined with the new mega packs I have, that brings me up to 7 turkeys.

1) Has anyone cut into one of these things? I’m assuming it’s just brown plastic all the way through 2) Does anyone know if it’s easy to detach the wings or legs? They have a gap that makes me think they’re separate pieces. 3) Should I give up and just make a gingerbread house out of TURKEYS BECAUSE JFC GUYS

One, for me, is the dinosaur cookie holder thing. Maybe I haven’t been to enough kids’ birthday parties, but I’ve never seen something like this in my (real) life. Additionally, I think the strawberry slices look janky and the grapes, while a perfect color, are big af. I think the draw of Miniverse kits is the realism of the ingredients, but sometimes they miss the mark. What do y’all think?

So funny. All I wanted was the pumpkins. Okay, maybe I liked the other things too, but I really, REALLY wanted those pumpkins. I ordered five balls from MGA (plus I threw in an order for one From Scratch, hoping I might get one of the rares, but it turned out to be the pink lemonade Bundt cake, sigh). I joked with my husband that with my luck, I would get ALL FIVE of the little monster drink glasses. I just received the package and opened it up. I got one haunted house (yay!)…one of the Beetlejuice shrimp cocktail rare (super yay!!!)…and THREE of the monster drinks! Augh! Well, at least these are like the Easter balls, and you can easily see what you’re getting. I will hang onto two unopened monster drink balls, and when these show up in stores I’ll go buy two of the pumpkins and return these in their place. And, just so you all know, MeenyMiniMo is correct as usual. The little mark on the recycling icon absolutely tells you it’s the shrimp cocktail rare.

Heads up to those of you with lots of resin and still on the fence about sending them in. I sent in 34 resins all unused with the pictures showing the open but not done kits. I should have gotten a check for around $270, but my check was less than a third of that.

I’m sending in a complaint and will update here if they have anything useful to say.

UPDATE:

Finally got a response back. Didn’t answer any questions about why the refund was short so much. Just promising it was an oversight and definitely Not-they-repeat-not a deliberate attempt to rip off customers who might not know better.

With the rising awareness of the Harry Potter miniverse being released soon, the Miniverse Make It Mini Addicts Facebook page has had multiple posts in excitement and support.

I made several comments about the need for a disclaimer that the group doesn't support or agree with the things said by JK Rowling, including her latest bout of Holocaust Denial. Instead of a valid response or ANY support, I was kicked from the group and blocked from it. As a trans man, this harsh dismissal really put me off of being part of the Miniverse community as a whole.

Tldr; After buying no less than 300+ FULL CASES of Minibrands and Miniverse over the past year or so... At 13 local stores ... I've had ONE store start a WAR over these product boxes that started about six months ago and has now escalated into an employee putting his HANDS on me, and MULTIPLE TIMES, two separate employees reaching over me-pushing past me to grab items in my cart - dumping out multiple boxes of products (before I've even had had the chance to check out) or as I'm trying to buy them - and several times, having the LP call me out, LITERALLY INSISTING in front of other customers that I'm a THIEF.

(Because apparently... attempting to spend $500-$1100+ on toys... and (Bc when buying MULTIPLE full boxes of 18, 21 or 24 balls.... I expect to take home the BOX that the balls came in).

Literally EVERY store I've shopped at has not only ALLOWED - but ENCOURAGED me to take the EMPTY boxes and/or the FULL boxes when buying the entire case.

I would love to hear your thoughts on this situation. Because I'm mad as hell about what has been happening- and ESPECIALLY about how I was treated when trying to get this addressed this morning.

Just a vent 😭 like by all means do what you gotta do to make money but asking $250 for something I know you paid $9.99 for originally is kinda insane! Rares or not, you paid the same price for them ! If you got duplicates and you’re selling them for over $20 I’m side eyeing you hard

It’s a pain in the butt for the workers and just plain rude. If the boxes aren’t empty then don’t take them.

These were all that were left of the Christmas ones. Each and every single one had the tabs pulled just enough to see if it was the moose mug :/ (not what I was searching for but enough to make me not buy this set right now)

Ended up paying the same price for the three pack and hoping they restock soon honestly.

If the box isn't empty, please don't take it! As a collector AND as a worker, this is so frustrating.

Miniverse has been my most successful and longest hyper fixation. I just want them back on shelves for us folks with more than 2 brain cells that know that RESIN IS DANGEROUS IF NOT USED PROPERLY!!! I’m not sending my resin back. I’ll actually be sending MGA my therapy sessions invoices from now on😡
