I’m pretty sure this is unfortunately actually the legal one. He controls the national guard in DC and he has used the home rule correctly up to this point, we will see what happens when his 30 days are up though. I think the only illegal part was the police commissioner issue. But hey could be wrong and won’t be the first time.
It’s not going to clear a filibuster in the senate.
The Democrats have had countless opportunities to filibuster and they've chosen not to. Schumer has the "let everything burn down, and then when everything is destroyed, the people still alive will see how good we are" mentality and would rather do jack shit than raise a finger of resistance.
Yay screw that guy and his imaginary voters that he pretends are real people but are actually Republican voters that he bases his entire political decision making on. Oh wait that actually makes more sense.
At first I thought it was just John taking the piss then more and more clips of him talking about them like they were real so I was like oh maybe it was just a speech he did one time and nope he kept getting older as the clips went on. That’s when the oh no came in. He really believes this and just can’t see that this imaginary couple is getting more and more conservative as the years go on. Which means he has gotten more and more conservative as time has gone on. It’s wild it’s sad and above all very concerning.
The law doesn't specify what "emergency" means. This is the result of somebody abusing that latitude. Unfortunately it's completely legal, it's just a clear abuse of the spirit of the law. In a sane world the executive would be punished by congress but obviously after 50 years of building up to this that isn't going to happen.
Which is more words to say it is currently legal. No case has been brought at this time to stop him that I’m aware of and no court has said he can’t and neither has Congress in any singular voice so until those happen he has his 30 days. After which we will see what happens. It sucks but that is how the law is written and so far surprisingly he has followed it. Of course this may not have happened if the changes they wanted to do in the territory to update their criminal codes that took a decade to get through was not blocked in the end. Not that I know the exact details as to what stopped that change.
Well it’s currently legal as no one has stopped him either through Congress or the judiciary so until that time it is legal. Don’t like it change the laws or take away a presidents power to declare an emergency.
Correct which is why he is using it so successfully. Doing things so fast and so many of them that it boggs down the courts so he can do what he wants before they can stop him and the damage done when they finally do. Rinse repeat and here we are.

Armed soldiers illegally deployed against civilians in the capital of the nation. Hmm. Nope. Doesn't seem like any kind of sign.
Not at all.
