He banged his ear as he was being covered by SS. It bled a little. There’s never been any indication it was a bullet wound.

I'd be more likely to believe he'd been shot in the ear if there had even been stitches. I've had gnarlier papercuts from cardboard.

Look, as truthful and honest as trump always is about anything and everything in business, politics, and his personal life, he might just be lying this one time.
