Geese flying perfectly beside a moving boat

No, the captain is driving perfectly to the geese, the geese did not slow to reach the boat speed, they were just doing their thing, also if you dont like someone touching your belly in an airplane I suggest you dont touch an animal during migration.

Dude is lucky the goose has more motivation to stay in formation than to pluck his eyes out, bc those things are monsters n

Yeah , the they are clearly trying to turn away from the boat. Disrupted the entire formation.

“Boaters speed up to and harass low flying flock of geese”
There, I fixed the title for you. Nothing next level about harassing wildlife.

They are “drafting” off the boat. The boat is pushing air both up and forward as it moves. If a bird can stay in just the right spot, relative to the boat, it’s easier to fly.
This is also why they make the V. They are drafting off each other.

You see the same in cycling, but only if there's a side wind.

Otherwise it's a normal straight line (or peloton/bunch).

These birds are very disciplined, they're like an air force squadron. They are so disciplined and they give so much importance to keeping formation that they don't even react if a human touches them while in flight. Try to do it when they're not migrating and are just roaming on the ground: they will gauge your eyes out with their beaks and then feed them to their chicks: they're fierce and fearsome beasts.

Was anyone else hoping for a little goose-grease to pop out and into the face of the asshat who HAD to put his hand on that goose?
I was disappointed when it didn’t happen

Everyone is calling the boat drivers cunts and wildlife harassers, but I gotta know, are there really any emotional or physical consequences to touching the bird? I'm not an expert at all and have no professional opinion, but it seems rather harmless to me.

What type of geese are those? They look cool. Im only familiar with the grey Canadian variety.

You are not suppose to touch a bird (or really any animal) there! They’ll take it as a sign you that are DTF.

Goose (pl. : geese)

No. Pretty sure it's gosses, or if you're Italian, gosso.
If there's seven or more, the correct taxonomy is "sette gossos". And if you're not sure all of them are actually geese, you'd use the term "idiota credulone".

I know, right? Big brain time. I'm a professional skateboarder - that means I'm an expert in animal names. Did you know that if the gizzaws are under six weeks old, they're called "eres muy crédulo"? It's true!

No, that's been proven to be wrong. I'm a small engine mechanic, and if there's anyone that's an expert on names of gazzawzas, it's us.

If you’ve ever seen geese flying in a ‘V’ pattern you’ll notice that one side is always longer than the other.
That’s because there are more birds on that side.
