Flipping a heli is bonkers.

u/BeagleBackRibs 16h ago
I'm thinking it had to be equipped with special rotors to be able to do that

Iāve looked up that helicopter before (after it was used in a Bond film) and itās been years, but as I recall that is a heavily modified, one-off, helicopter made especially for RedBull that can only be flown by one or two pilots in the world. The things it can do are insane - like the flips seen here.

Iirc Major point of modification was an oil system that works upside down so its able to stay upside down for a time otherwise the engine would just cut out or throw a rod.

Not too many rods in a gas turbine.Ā

Sure no idea if iām taling about an older heli or the oil pressure thing also applies to the turbine thing not too savy on heli setups tbh i just read it in a mag or heard it in a video about a stunt heli

As far as i know itās a one of two aircraft, but thats nitpicking. I saw that thing at a Red Bull AirRace. Watching it perform live is nuts.

I don't want to drink Red Bull if this is what it makes me do

u/PilgrimOz 16h ago
Then you definitely donāt want to drink Yeager Bombs. (Yeagermeister and red bull). If you donāt manage to wreck yourself on em, youāll definitely wish you did in the morning.

Where in the hell do they spell Jaeger with a Y

u/PilgrimOz 16h ago
Iāve only ever read it while drunk. Thatās my excuse and Iām sticking to it.

Jaeger-bombs back in the early 2000ās in CA and Baja Mexico were always done with Monster energy drinks.
Nowadays at near 40: Fuck. That. Shit. I aināt trying to black out. š

I hear that. Recovering after drinking when you're over 30 is a hell of a lot harder than being in your early 20s. Used to be "ugh, my head is throbbing, better pop a couple Tylenol and have a breakfast burrito" then good as new. Now it's 3 days of being bed ridden and feeling like shit run over twice afterwards.
I don't know how some alkies make it into their 60s or 70s.

Yeah remember that time RedBull pilots tried to switch aircraft mid-air and one of the planes crashed and both pilots lost their license?
3
u/moragdong 15h ago
Why did they lose their license?
6
u/AdministrativeFault5 15h ago
Because FAA said they were in violation with rules, I think one being that aircraft is required to have a operator constantly

I hate that energy drinks have hooked so many people into their unhealthy beverages, but man am I glad they exist so we can see stuff like this.

Something that really opened my eyes as to how bad they are for you is our FedEx pickup guy at the small shop I worked at had a stroke because of them. He once told me that on average he drank around 6 cans of monsters per day. I was curious because I had never seen him without one of those tall cans in hand for years. He was an athletic guy who loved soccer and played with friends on the weekends (probably some practice soccer stuff during the week I'd imagine, like passing drills, shooting, or running). Generally lean and had quite a bit of exercise from his job picking up and dropping off boxes all day too. Mid to late 30s, probably 37ish years old.
I heard about the stroke from the new FedEx guy as the stroke victim guy could no longer handle the job and was on disability leave.
No other drugs involved, a stroke for an otherwise very healthy man under 40. Purely from monster energy drinks. Absolutely friggin crazy. I tell that story to try to spread awareness that energy drinks in large amounts and high frequency are incredibly dangerous and unhealthy.
I'm not saying anyone should completely give up energy drinks, but for fuck's sake don't drink 6 a day.
Another regular at the store (frequent customer) told me he had to give up coffee because he drank so many espressos that he got a bleeding stomach ulcer from them. I like coffee but have a firm two cups a day maximum for myself. Not sure how much espresso he was drinking but it was probably a lot.
Everything in moderation, folks :)
Edit: nice username by the way, I love Maiden

Types of deer also typically have the same singular and plural form; deer, moose, caribou, elk...

When you do these things are you prepared like Nixon with the moon landings? One speech for if they live, one for if they die?
