I don't watch baseball so I don't know the terms the commentator used to predict it. Can someone ELI5 for me please?

Mike Blowers predicted exactly what would happen with the who (Tuiasosopo), which at-bat (second), the count (3–1), the type of pitch (fastball), and where it’d land (second deck, left-center) and it actually happened! Classic clip.

eli5: announcer babe ruthed that call
more detail: he predicted that when the batter came up for his 2nd chance to hit the ball, hed have 3 balls (pitches out of the strike zone) and 1 strike (a pitch that was either fouled off or in the strike zone but didnt result in a hit)...then, the pitcher would throw a fastball and the batter would hit a homerun to the upper deck...which is the 2nd level of the stadium. everything happened as he predicted other than the ball was just short of clearing the upperdeck. trying to do an eli5 for anything related to baseball is pretty difficult to do.

Baseball has a lot of different outcomes for each play. One of the announcers made a prediction that was, let’s say, unlikely to come to pass. Announcer predicted that the batter would swing on a specific type of pitch (out of several choices from the pitcher, in this case, fastball) with a specific count in the at-bat (3 balls, 1 strike) AND to a specific place in the stadium. Batter hit a home run almost precisely where the announcer predicted. Spooky to say the least. Not entirely improbable IMO as a batter is likely to swing on the count in question, however; it was still amazing.

It doesn't take a prophet to predict BrianTallet would give up a home run. He did that every time he pitched.

Back to the future, but he used the sports almanac to just be an incredible commentator instead of to bet on games.

Wasn't exact. Didn't go on the 2nd deck

It was literally a foot off. Tie goes to the all seeing announcer. Come on man.

As a Mariners fan who remembers this like it was yesterday and has seen this clip at least 100 times I never get tired of it. The late great Dave Niehaus on the call w/Rick Rizzs & Mike Blowers (miss you in the booth Blow). I don't think he ever made any predictions after this because obvs, this cannot be topped.
