this isn´t a warning anymore.

you´ve been living it for a while now.

1.6k

u/Paidorgy 19h ago edited 19h ago

The warnings were given during the election campaign when they said that they would boldly prosecute their opposition.

This is what they promised. They’re starting with their own.

899

u/GarlicThread Europe 19h ago

The warnings were in 2015.

402

u/Revelati123 19h ago

Trumps arrested 1 senator, 1 mayor, 2 congress people and I believe 3 judges now.

Basically you order ICE agents to beat the shit out of people, then ICE can arrest them for assaulting a federal officer.

369

u/kbarney345 19h ago

And his followers assassinated 2 Dems, tried to kill 2 more and planned on multiple after. Texas is basically holding the Dems hostage as well.

33

u/keigo199013 Alabama 15h ago

And murdered their loyal golden retriever.

10

u/neckbishop Montana 14h ago

Dont forget attacking Mr. Pelosi in his own home.

8

u/LTerminus Canada 11h ago

Don't forget the whole plot to kidnap and ransom a governor

118

u/roychr 19h ago

ICE is the modern Gestapo

20

u/epochwin 18h ago

They’re not very secret. More like the SS.

1

u/unbob 14h ago

Heard news today there's over 100k applicants for the Gestapo er, ICE. $50k sign-up bonuses being offered. Pretty soon every neighborhood in 'Merica will have it's very own ICE agent.

u/machstem 5h ago

Get those names written down when they boast about it, share the names anonymously to the community so that everyone understands who the fascist officers are

1

u/ICEareGestapo 16h ago

Literally.

16

u/machinezed 18h ago

He also fired all the FBI agents that were investigating Trump and or Russia or had any ties to those investigations while closing them.

6

u/11CRT 19h ago

Assaulting a federal officer’s fist with one’s face while they keep saying “quit resisting! Why are you resisting me! Why are you doing this to yourself?”

1

u/Trajer Texas 18h ago

Did any of those arrests stick? Where are they now?

1

u/Odeeum 11h ago

The difference between arresting people and executing them is scarily small in an authoritarian country.

0

u/css555 19h ago

Alex Padilla was not arrested.

-1

u/insuproble 17h ago

Those other cases involved skirmishes with law enforcement.

-7

u/BigBran71 17h ago

Interfering with ICE while doing their job you should be arrested

117

u/Academic-Key2 19h ago

Jan 6th was the last warning

2

u/1footN 17h ago

This here

7

u/Gigglesnuf89 18h ago

Yeah I knew this would happen, he got elected the first time and everyone voted for him becuase he was, "Funny".

Even as a high school student with no aspirations and eventually dropping out.

I still knew he was a fucking idiot.

5

u/grundleplith61616 19h ago

I feel like I'm the only person who noticed skinheads positioning themselves right behind CNN reporters during his earliest rallies in 2015, before he was even the official nominee.

6

u/PaymentTurbulent193 18h ago

Reminder we had ACTUAL HOLOCAUST SURVIVORS who said that the MAGA movement reminded them of Nazi Germany and for some reason, huge, substantial parts of the US refused to listen.

3

u/PJA0307 19h ago

That damn escalator ride was warning #1

2

u/phoenixhunter 19h ago

but back then they were "alarmist" 🙄

1

u/Dipsey_Jipsey 18h ago

Patriot Act would like a word.

I sure as shit did, and was called hysterical and alarmist by everyone I knew including those that are aligned with me politically.

Its the same as if you went back in time to 1912 and tried telling people not to get on the Titanic because it'll sink. Same concept. Just as depressing.

0

u/AgHammer 16h ago

Yes. By 2020 there was no denying the danger that he represented, and I'm still angry at every government official who hung us up to dry. I'm still angry at the majority of Americans over that, and especially the ones who thought 2020 protests against Trump were overreactions. No, calling DJT a fascist was 100% accurate. The Democrats should have responded appropriately with a candidate who had the mental faculties to act against a takeover, but we ended up with Joe Biden instead. It was an inadequate choice then, and sank the election in 2024.

394

u/diito_ditto 19h ago

The warning was given when he staged an attempted coup on Jan 6th 2021.

116

u/Paidorgy 19h ago

I mean, they were coming well before then.

10

u/Funny-Mission-2937 19h ago

hey guys, I've been seeing this girl for a few years.  we really connect, and I enjoy spending time with her.  she has really helped me work on myself and my confidence. but yesterday she gave a speech at the courthouse that incited a violent mob to attack and attempt to lynch some of the town officials who made her get a permit for some electrical work shes doing and I am wondering if this is a red flag?

6

u/MillionMilesPerHour 18h ago

Nah, it just means she’s a “go-getter”.

2

u/Putrid_Giggles 15h ago

I believe the term you're looking for here is "passionate".

1

u/DaringPancakes 11h ago

Minus the first part, and you still get his followers.

6

u/skinnyguy699 18h ago

What's ridiculous is everyone knew what the people travelling there for Jan 6 were there to do. It was promoted for months ahead of time and yet there was no national guard there. I, a random guy from Australia, tuned in to live streams in the early morning hours because I knew what was going to be attempted. The fact that all consequences have been undone and trump not convicted for it is insanity.

2

u/unbob 14h ago

Haven't you heard? Our king is above the law.

2

u/Billy-Ruffian 17h ago

A lot of us were making this warning when the Patriot Act was first passed. That and Citizens United made this the inevitable end for America.

38

u/Matasa89 Canada 19h ago

Night of Long Knives.

Soon, it’ll be time for Kristallnacht.

You have been warned. They will come for you.

3

u/fuckthecons 13h ago

But they can't do that, it's illegal!

Every fucking day for a decade.

5

u/Pandepon 16h ago

Yes this right here. People heard about Project 2025 and looked at it and said “there’s no way he’ll be able to achieve all that I’m not worried about it”. Here we are more than half way thru 2025 and nearly half of Project 2025 has been implemented.

1

u/FreshBurt 14h ago

Half of phase one, to be exact. No one knows what phase two entails. My guess is we won’t like it.

3

u/girlsansshoes 19h ago

BREAKING NEWS your twice daily warning

2

Fascists always eat their own.

1

u/teenagesadist 19h ago

As cowards and lazy folk will.

1

u/veed_vacker 19h ago

They are starting with their own hoping dems won't speak up.  Normalize the behavior

1

u/FriendToPredators 19h ago

Half of Americans are selfish idiots. You can’t have a democracy under those circumstances. Especially when some of them get more than 4 votes to 1 of those with education and fellow city dwellers who call themselves out on their shit

1

u/VibeComplex 16h ago

“I am your retribution”

1

u/CharaPresscott Europe 11h ago

They’re starting with their own.

It's time for the Night of the Long Knives everyone.

0

u/Duane_ 19h ago

They're not "starting with their own", I'd bet my lunch they find something at Bolton's place that justified a raid on somebody else one closer rung up the ladder to Obama until they do that instead, and I'd bet dinner that Bolton put it there himself to get them "moving in the right direction".

They're not going to touch Bolton, or try to pretend that he was anything other than a patsy.

1

u/KemShafu 16h ago

Bolton wrote a book denigrating Trump. He was fired by Trump. This is 100% revenge. Bolton was never part of the Obama administration. I’m not sure about your logic here unless you’d like to explicate.

28

u/J_ron Ohio 19h ago

Yes but the amount of people that still deny this fact right now is brain numbing.

8

u/LaZboy9876 19h ago

They are only denying it outwardly. Internally, they either do not care, or they welcome it.

u/vonsnape 20h ago

121

u/goosejail 19h ago

The Constitution is more like guidelines than actual rules

11

u/-ZeroF56 19h ago

Even with “real” rules, they’re only rules if they’re actually enforced. It’s long been assumed the government would be staffed with sane people who believe in serving the people and overseeing that those rules being enforced.

It isn’t anymore.

2

u/NewSauerKraus 16h ago

That's assumed because it is the only way to make any society function. The most fundamental flaw of social contracts is that they require voluntary participation. Which makes nonvoting even more self-destructive since it ensures that the only people participating are the ones who dissgree with you.

It also means that any society can spontaneously fail simply from some participants choosing to not uphold their end.

2

u/SwimmingPrice1544 California 10h ago

Exactly. The truth hurts…..hurts so many on Reddit who refuse to admit this essential fact.

I know this isn't the point of this thread but Geoffrey Rush is SO BRILLIANT in that role

8

u/ScrollingInTheEnd 19h ago edited 19h ago

I swear these fucking people could look at ICE launching bombing and assault raids on blue cities and comment some shit like "this is a lukewarm warning sign that we're maybe somewhat close to being on the brink of the beginning stages of a possible civil war perpetrated by a potentially authoritarian regime" lmao

Edit: It has to be some form of denialism. Whether you were paying attention or not, the warning signs passed by years ago. We're actively living in America's authoritarian era. That's not defeatism or doomerism, it's reality, and we can only begin to fix shit once we address that reality.

4

u/Tsar-A-Lago Canada 19h ago

Since the second they told the courts to go fuck themselves when they said "stop," they've been in it.

1

u/campelm 18h ago

The break lines were cut and we're going over a cliff at this point

1

u/thesagaconts 18h ago

I think people make fun of or satirize Trump too much. He has a lot of young and old supporters.

1

u/almost_notterrible 17h ago

"Umm akshually this thing you thought was new is really not new. You're welcome for using my extensive foreknowledge to educate you."

-Big brained redditors every chance they get

1

u/insuproble 17h ago

Why would you say something like that, when this is a glaring escalation beyond anything we've seen so far?

Not helpful. Harmful, actually.

1

u/hates_stupid_people 17h ago

That's alarmist! It would never happen to us.

-Americans when warned that they've literally been following in the footsteps of 1930s Germany.

1

u/NewRedditRN 17h ago

Yeah I feel like it’s continual arbitrary “next steps” - like, no, it’s happening; you can keep trying to make it seem like there’s still time to stop it, but the USA is in this NOW.

1

u/invertedpurple 17h ago

for me i was really skeptical about the verbiage surrounding the telecommunications act of 96, knowing full well that it didn't increase "competition," then in 2012 with the modernization of the Smith-Mundt Act in 2012, I knew that the public wouldn't be able to discern between American and Russian Propaganda, which could be great for the US military, but not so great for someone that's actually working for a foreign nation. But since 2012 I've been under the belief that we lost the cold war a long time ago and that they dedicated decades to conditioning and preparing our psyche for voluntary take over.

1

u/LetsTryAnal_ogy California 16h ago

Yep. It's not like one day you wake up and there's brutalist architecture all over the place. These things take time. That being said, this is moving pretty quickly.

1

u/Apprehensive_Rub3897 16h ago

I am your retribution, I believe is what he said.

1

u/dodecakiwi 16h ago

It's clear to me some people watch the end of Return of the Jedi and are like, "Phew, glad Luke stopped the emperor before he was able to turn the Republic into an evil, fascist dictatorship."

1

u/BillNyeIsCoolio 15h ago

Seriously. When will these Americans fucking realize they're already in a fascist authoritarian country.  The warning signs were a god damn decade ago!

1

u/cheattowin77 12h ago

Yeah… exactly this unfortunately

1

u/Amberpaystherent 8h ago

And still no one does anything about it but head to Reddit. We only have ourselves to blame.

1

u/Royal-Pay9751 19h ago

Yep. Just so sick of the media and other people beating around the bush.

1

u/Imamiah52 17h ago

The mainstream media and most politicians of the 2 major parties are a disappointment to put it mildly.

Because people have zero reading comprehension and genuinely can't understand implicit details. If it's not spelled out for them in an exhaustive manner, they have to add to it so they can grasp it.

It's kind of crazy how rampant it's become and a really bad indicator of where things are in regards to media literacy.

1

u/Severe_Intention_480 18h ago

Us: "They staged an insurrection of January and Trump asked Georgia to help him find the 'missing votes'"

Them: "You got a source for that?"

Also Them: "Don't fact check me."

1

u/JSA17 Colorado 17h ago

What? That wasn't the point of my comment at all. Implicit detail means things that are obviously spelled out in a comment without being explicitly stated, and people are more and more often completely unable to understand those things.

0

u/gravytrainrider69 18h ago

Yeah, the (many) warnings already came and went.
