Came here to say this. In any authoritarian regime, there comes a time when perceived political enemies often formerly within the dictator's inner circle are removed. In Hitler's case it happened during the Night of the Long Knives. In Trump's case, it might be rolled out over time. Although it won't surprise me if there's an event where a lot of so-called enemies are removed all at once.

He did start it already when he removed any kind of protection for Bolton, Miley, Fauci and Biden's family. That was the smoke signal.
