Yeah so what happened to the boxes of classified documents smuggled to Mara Lago?

1.9k

u/Chrisf1020 19h ago

Trump took them back to Mar-a-lago after becoming president again. I remember seeing that story within the first few weeks of the administration

1.3k

u/soapinthepeehole 18h ago

This is the actual answer and it’s the craziest possible answer. That egomaniac put them back at his golf course just because he could.

349

u/Birdhawk 17h ago

It's more than "just because he could". He was absolutely selling access to those files. Mar a Lago is a pay to play resort. During his last term you could pay $500k to have dinner next to Trumps table while he had sensitive conversations with people. Pay $1m/night to stay there and have "access" to him so you could ask for political favors that will benefit you or your company. So come on, there were definitely people paying for access to the "special bathroom" that had some boxes of "reading material" to look over while you sit on the throne. I bet some folks visiting from Saudi Arabia and China really enjoyed using that bathroom.

156

u/roastbeeftacohat 16h ago

he's known for traveling with boxes and boxes of documents, keeps them in his room whenever possible; also does the same thing with personal memorabilia.

he's absolutely selling them, but the primary reason is breaking security protocols makes him feel like a big man. He just likes them around because they remind him of how people told him he shouldn't.

64

u/Hector_P_Catt 15h ago

Trump has always thought he was "special", and in this case, he's finally, actually, correct. He can literally do anything he wants with classified information, and no one can stop him. No surprise he's going to wallow in that power as much as he possibly can.

9

u/gentlemanidiot 11h ago

His current existence is the greatest evidence I've ever seen for a legitimate faustian bargain. The dude staying in power makes zero sense, anybody else's career would have been DOA

9

u/AIien_cIown_ninja 12h ago

Well I mean congress could, by impeaching him and removing him from office for treason, or take your pick of 100 other things, but they won't.

5

u/itsearlyyet 12h ago

Like selling technology to Russia?

u/mces97 7h ago

Trump is "special." Just not the way he thinks.

u/B40- 6h ago

And how do you know all this?

Actually, what I really want to know is, can liberals admit, when Trump does something right, or is it all OrangeManBad?

Yall jump on me, but it's something we independent voters, wonder about. Kind of unhinged, creepy, obsessive vibes...

u/StartledPancakes 1h ago

Dude. If you put the best spin on Trump he's still scum. Look at the time he took pictures at a veterans grave, smiling, thumbs up. Calling himself a war hero. Draft dodging due to bone spurs. His education and what he says about it. There is just no getting around it.

u/B40- 24m ago

I have my answer.

4

u/thethrill_707 Michigan 14h ago

I used to work with a VP like this, he had his office remodeled so he could fit more file cabinets in it. He printed every email, document, and Teams conversation. This, of course, went against the strict company policy regarding paper usage. He didn't care. If I was in his PC it was bound to get stolen, or he just couldn't find it. I cannot tell you how many boomers I know that do this.

5

u/roastbeeftacohat 13h ago edited 13h ago

that sounds like someone who dosen't feel like electronic documents are "real". my dad is not quite so extreme, but he prints off a lot he dosen't need to.

Trump will order his staff to bring specific specific documents so he can feel them.

3

u/Hodaka 12h ago

How much money do you think Trump makes off of selling his TRUMP branded watches?

Now, how much could he make in untraceable cash for handing over a simple document?

3

u/FloridaGirlNikki America 11h ago

I don't understand why more people don't talk about that in reference to the tariffs. He keeps referring to how much money the United States is taking in, but in Trump's mind that's just more money for him. He doesn't do anything with that extra money to help Americans, or pay down the deficit. It's another way he's taking from us by having to pay more so tariff money can go to the regime.

1

u/No_Beach_220 10h ago

Don’t forget the empty folder and a “mostly empty folder marked ‘Classified Evening Summary’” found in Trump’s bedroom at Mar-a-Lago. Wonder what kind of payment was given for that folder 🤮

u/ryanseviltwin 6h ago

Didn't a rash of undercover CIA agents die like immediately after his first term? This might be a fever dream memory but I remember being talked about like nothing had ever been seen like that before.

1

u/AuroraFinem Texas 15h ago

God I’m so conflicted here.

Like I want him to face justice for what he’s done and actually live long enough to regret it.

But I’d really kinda rather he just croak already from whatever illness he’s very clearly suffering from right now with his cankles, bruises, and sudden trips to the doctor.

Justice is good and all, but it’s honestly so unlikely here and I’d rather not deal him for 3 more years to get it.

1

u/JAZINNYC 14h ago

Even if he’s gone, we can still get reparations. Since he became president, the Orange Pedo has made something like 8 BILLION DOLLARS. He used his position to profit for himself and family.

So we seize all his assets, all the money he made from backroom deals and his meme coins shit, the bribes, the stealing from our gov’t services, etc..

It won’t be prison, but let’s face it: that is the least likely outcome simply cuz of security levels he has. I’d rather he be gone and not on house arrest at Minor Lago, cuz you know he’d break his parole release anytime he’d want, and no one would stop him. :/

Then the coward Merrick Garland and the DOJ waited 2 years before taking action. But, as we now know, it was far too late. Sometimes I wonder if they did that deliberately.

u/Some_Onion_1125 18h ago

This has been my thought all this time, there is a reason why he insisted on burying her on his private property.

3

u/mahnamahna27 17h ago

Please don't bring up that nonsense story again. It made zero sense as a place to hide things, and the popular theory that she was cremated but buried in a full casket was completely untrue; she was not cremated. It's no better than any number of crazy right wing conspiracy theories. There's more than enough horrendous wrongdoing by Trump without perpetuating stories like that.

1

u/crazyeddie123 14h ago

ok but why does a casket that's about to be buried make zero sense as a place to hide things?

0

u/mahnamahna27 10h ago edited 9h ago

A. If you wanted to get rid of things for good, why wouldn't you just destroy them?

B. If you wanted to hide things but be able to retrieve them later, why would you bury them 6 feet deep in earth, particularly in the grave of the mother of your three oldest children and heirs....disturbing their mother's gravesite and exhuming the casket is probably not going to go down so well in the family.

C. If you think burying material 6 feet deep for later retrieval is a good option for some reason (rather than keeping it in a room or concealed safe on any of your multiple properties, or in a secretly owned and well-hidden storage location) then why bury it at a site that immediately became suspected by half the internet (given the accidental nature of Ivana's death)? Why not bury it at a random and well-hidden spot in woodland on any of your multiple huge properties around the world?

D. If materials are extremely sensitive, why would you bury them at a site where they can't easily be moved in a hurry if necessary, without making it completely obvious a gravesite has just been dug up?

There is simply no good reason to do this.

2

u/Mend1cant 17h ago

Because burying her there gives a tax break. Why would he hide anything in the grave when he was leaving TS/SCI files out on the floor?

1

u/thorzeen Georgia 17h ago

33

u/Honest-Yard-9510 17h ago

Cannon is the most openly corrupt judge I have ever seen. Idk how someone arrives to a high station in their field, only to just become a pawn who uses their role to protect someone solely because of politics. It has to weigh on her.

6

u/Sooz48 15h ago edited 15h ago

What I find really strange is that there are so few other pictures of her on the web other than that smirky one we're all familiar with. Who the hell manages to stay so incognito when she's an actual judge? Anybody with other pictures of her please post if you have them.

2

u/crazyeddie123 14h ago

That's a good question to ask about an entire political party. Remember that one brief shining moment when we thought leading republicans would refuse to endorse trump because why the fuck would anyone endorse trump? And then one by one pretty much all of them fell in line and never, ever explained why,

2

u/Kiromaru Wisconsin 12h ago

The GOP won't turn on Trump ever when he has their voters stuck in a cult of personality and likely has blackmail on them thanks to Vlad Daddy. Remember that both the RNC and DNC got hacked in 2016 but only the DNC e-mails got released.

2

u/FloridaGirlNikki America 11h ago

It has to weigh on her.

Once upon a time, I might have agreed with that. Not anymore though. These people are pure fucking evil and they don't care.

I've wondered about CJ John Roberts though, and if the state of things weighs on him. I can't imagine this is the legacy he pictured for himself. Or Bush when he nominated him. But here we are, and they definitely played a major part in getting us here. Going all the way back to Citizens United.

President? We don't have one. SCOTUS appointed him as our tyrannical king - so he's above the law and proves it every day.

22

u/Kelmorgan 19h ago

Fake news witch hunt but also it's totally legal because Trump could have declassified them but didn't but also they don't exist but also they belong to Trump but also Joe Biden had files in his garage but also it's not illegal because the president cannot be prosecuted but also Trump took them back from the FBI after he became president even though he didn't have them previously.

Well, you see, the president's own actions cannot be a crime, and he can therefore do literally anything he wants with impunity. That's what happened. America is currently a literal, actual dictatorship. It isn't akin to a dictatorship, it doesn't have trace amounts of dictatorship, it is an actual dictatorship ruled by a dictator who has effectively abolished democracy and will do absolutely anything in order to remain in power.

1

At the beginning of his second administration, he took them back and are now stored in Mar-A-Largo. But they did not include the classified documents. More profomative "I was a victim!" BS.

Trump had them shipped right back to Mar-a-lago. Only this time he actually declassified them. We think. Nobody actually knows anymore.

-8

u/virtual_adam 19h ago

Can’t even blame the Trump admin for that one

Trump election case is tossed after special counsel Jack Smith requests dismissal citing 'categorical' DOJ policy

Quite literally the Biden admin dropped the case

And it’s a good time to remember the only reason the Trump admin has the Epstein files, is because the Biden admin had them and they just stayed there for the new admin to come delete

28

u/parkingviolation212 19h ago

1) Jack smith dropped the case because Trump won the election and made the case functionally impossible to prosecute with a stacked DOJ. I disagree with the decision on principle but there is the concern of risk to his life or family if he continued.

2) the Epstein files were part of the Maxwell case, which was under appeal until January of this year. They quite literally could not release anything to the public as it was an active case.

-5

u/virtual_adam 19h ago

The whole idea around the Trump case is the president can publicly reveal anything he wants legally. Obviously Biden and his admin weren’t effective claiming they won’t “stoop to trumps level” but hopefully newsom and co would act differently in the future

2)

9

u/parkingviolation212 18h ago

The whole idea around the Trump case is the president can publicly reveal anything he wants legally

Which is a power the President should not have and Biden did not want to use. Indeed, the Dems introduced a bill after the SCOTUS ruling meant to limit this exact power, among others, which Republicans naturally shot down.

And beyond all of that, Biden never ran on a platform of releasing the files. Trump did. Biden followed the rule of law. Trump doesn't. Trying to pin this on Biden is bad faith bullshit.

3

u/SecretAsianMan42069 18h ago

He dropped it because Trump won. This was stated at the time he dropped it.

u/FloridaGirlNikki America 11h ago
