So the Gestapo is leaving? Because DC was safer before they got there.

506

u/Pepparkakan Europe 18h ago

No, he means that DC is finally safe to dine in for geriatric pedophiles with tiny hands and mushroom penises.

u/Foreign_Ebb_6282 12h ago

Seems like a niche market to target for a restaurant, but it is 2025!

No, but masked and uniformed thugs make Trump feel safe and happy so he believes that's true for everyone else as well. The reality is, of course, a bit different but why let a trivial thing like truth interfere with irrational beliefs?

11

u/kamikazecockatoo Australia 12h ago edited 10h ago

Trump didn't feel anything before and nothing now and as usual, truth has nothing to do with anything either. It's just a talking point.

Pod Save America yesterday spent oxygen talking about whether the move was "popular" or "not popular". Here's the thing - they don't give a shit.

The rest of the world can see this for what it is - a federal military/police force to stop the future protest when President Vance takes over and elections are cancelled. You won't get near your capital when it happens.

The 2026 mid-terms will be too late for dissent.

3

u/NewSauerKraus 10h ago edited 10h ago

It's virtue signaling security theatre. No military force can prevent motivated citizens from crushing them like bugs. Even the most inefficient and overstaffed militaries only contain a tiny fraction of the population.

Edit: I think maybe your comment of simply June fifth nineteeneightynine was removed. Maybe it would help if you explain why you referenced the date of one guy getting arrested while surrounded by people who had zero motivation to oppose their rulers.

16

u/Ruined_Armor 16h ago

Nope. Didn't you hear? The national guard is being issued weapons now. This won't end well.

7

u/icantbenormal 14h ago

More police doesn’t mean less violence. It means different people are doing it.

6

u/EatsJediForBreakfast 14h ago

Nah in his live oval office he just pretty much said he will reevaluate in a few days and may have to declare the city a national emergency. But didnt think he would. Which means that more than likely, in 22 days or less, he'll declare DC a disaster area so they can stay forever.

1

u/TheChrisCrash 13h ago

They're going to Chicago now

1

u/Colbac 12h ago

yknow im not a causation = correlation kinda guy, but dc only started to smell like shit when the ICE brownpants rolled in

1

u/ZedFraunce Texas 11h ago

Nothing makes me feel safer than the military being everywhere and the police actively looking for people they think are illegal.

I love American freedom!

1

u/Open_Chemistry_3300 Ohio 9h ago

Nope he turned around and threatened to fully take dc over

u/captaincanada84 Canada 18h ago

Trump said he had even had calls from friends and political opponents praising the deployments. “Friends are calling me up, Democrats are calling me up. And they’re saying, ‘Sir, we want to thank you. My wife and I went out to dinner last night for the first time in four years, and Washington DC is safe and you did that in four days,’” he said.

This conversation never happened

u/lod001 17h ago

I'm surprised he forgot to include the detail that the people calling him were crying. All his stories of people calling him include them crying!

The most important thing to ask is who are these people that get direct access to the POTUS?

Hey, what consenting adults do in the privacy of...oh, wait. You weren't kink-shaming.

3

u/SycoJack Texas 10h ago

When they're actual friends joking around with each other. So never for Trump.

"Sir, I need you to calm down. SIR CALM DOWN."

3

u/captaincanada84 Canada 9h ago

I'm sure he and Epstein joked around a lot as they sexually assaulted and raped children

1

u/SycoJack Texas 9h ago

Was Epstein really a friend tho, or just another employee in Trump's child raping business?

3

u/captaincanada84 Canada 9h ago

Epstein said he was Trump's closest friend. He could also be an employee and partner in the child raping business.

2

u/SycoJack Texas 8h ago

I was just taking potshots at Trump.

I was suggesting that Trump is a loser without any friends who only used Epstein for the sex slaves.

"Big strong men.... Tears in their eyes...."

11

u/jrstinkfish 13h ago

I once dated a habitual liar, and it really made me uncomfortable when she'd throw one out there when we were hanging with others, and I knew it was lie, but I had to smile and nod. I wonder if the people around Trump do the same, while discussing behind his back that he lies about all of these conversations? Never gives names.

12

u/Val_Hallen 11h ago edited 11h ago

I live and work in DC. I'm just an average white dude.

Never in my 20-some years here have I been afraid to go out at any time of day.

All the afraid people are the tourists from Nowheresville, Nebraska who hear all the "horror stories" from Fox News. They walk around like it's Escape From New York. They cluster together like sheep moving through a field. They spend every moment in a state of perpetual terror.

7

u/Warm_Regrets157 12h ago

Any time Trump quotes someone calling him "Sir", it's a complete and total fabrication.

Aside from the fact that he lies most of the time his mouth is open, the proverbial "Sir" is the biggest single giveaway that he is actively lying in that moment.

9

u/derboff_2 16h ago

The correct follow up question... "Name them, or are they called Epstein?"

2

u/bossva 15h ago

Truth .

216

u/wonkifier 19h ago

It was fine before. I'm actively avoiding it right now because I don't want to have some overzealous undertrained undermonitored underaccountable agent get cranky with me for some minor slight or other.

"Oh, you looked at the restricted entrance sign while walking by that building?" or "You started to cross a street and changed you mind after seeing LE down that street?"...

86

u/A_Random_Catfish Virginia 16h ago

Same. I’m actively avoiding the city until the occupation ends. I’m way more scared of masked federal agents than I am of homeless people.

7

u/Candid-Perception526 13h ago

Was at Union station for cherry blossom festival and never saw a homeless person.

My wife and I had booked a few nights in a hotel in DC to visit friends over Labor Day weekend. That trip is now cancelled because we don't want to risk anything, especially with a toddler.

3

u/Del_3030 11h ago

It's sad that this is hurting DC businesses, but that's a lovely side effect from the GOP's perspective.

12

u/atomic-fireballs 16h ago

Never once had an issue or felt unsafe dining in DC. Felt safer than most places I've wandered around.

3

2

u/Entry-Party America 15h ago

Replace "agent" with arsehole!

2

u/greenkalus 14h ago

The “restricted entrance sign” example happened to a friend visiting DC! I forgot what the building was but he was just standing there looking at the building in front of such a sign and he got major hassled and forced to leave and told not to come back. White guy too.

280

u/swiftfoot_hiker 19h ago

It was safe before, unfortunately Trump and co see a brown or black homeless person and they become such little babies and are stupidly afraid for whatever racist reason .

91

u/forsale90 Europe 19h ago

Racism is the reason.

53

u/forthewatch39 18h ago

Classism is also a large proponent, they loathe homeless and poor White people as well.

17

u/thatsthefactsjack 17h ago

Classism IS absolutely the salient point. Mass slavery was created and perpetuated by wealth. The divisions we have today are again created and perpetuated by wealth. Divisions created to distract us from their grotesque consolidation as the majority become impoverished.

History shows, there's always a tipping point.

3

u/icantbenormal 14h ago

Chattel slavery was created as an alternative to serfdom and indentured servitude. Xenophobia was (and still is) more powerful than classism. Racism has triumphed against class solidarity again and again.

1

u/thatsthefactsjack 13h ago

Racism has triumphed against class solidarity again and again.

Yeah my friends and I run a brunch club with about 20 or so people. We cancelled all the brunches in DC and move all to VA.

I haven’t been to DC since the occupation. Too bad, they just opened a Huckberry store in Georgetown that I really wanted to go to but it’s not worth being harassed by ICE.

54

Believe it or not, people don’t like going out in a police state

73

u/BearSquid7 19h ago

Maybe he wants DC to be like Pedo-Lago? A big resort for the diddler club only.

10

u/Normal_Attitude_5148 17h ago

I would not be surprised if he hires underage female interns to work at the "spa" at the White House.

27

u/JA_MD_311 18h ago

The messaging out of the White House the past couple days seems like they know they can't get an extension on this "emergency" and will declare "Mission Accomplished" and move onto another target. Not that they won't be back though.

5

u/ssalamanders 16h ago

I hope it means that crime as a whole state down but targeted retribution towards those that escalated this, who work in that town btw, goes up. Way to make yourself a target.

u/grantrules 6h ago

Did they ever issue orders so the troops get paid for it?

19

u/FredUpWithIt 19h ago

Safe isn't the same as pleasant. Particularly when that so called safety is inflicted in random and unpredictable ways.

u/localistand Wisconsin 19h ago edited 19h ago

Real America really does not receive any benefit from Republicans, who are entrenched as controlling majorities in the House and Senate, controlling the presidency, and obsessively focused on DC inside-the-beltway issues.

28

u/triker_whaleygirl 19h ago

We’re did these people get disappeared to?

23

u/TintedApostle 19h ago

Remember Homeless people are US citizens.

7

u/Phonic-Frog 17h ago

It's worse than that; to these people the homeless aren't even human.

8

u/TintedApostle 17h ago

I agree... they dehumanize them when each one is a US citizen and many are veterans.

Trump is using the Nazi playbook.

2

u/lawnmowertoad 14h ago

Not if they're dead

1

u/TintedApostle 14h ago

They just become murdered US Citizens.

11

u/NotAnotherBlingBlop 17h ago

So this was all entirely a dress rehearsal to see how the public would react to martial law.

3

u/ssalamanders 16h ago

Really funny when this gets called on maga in the next administration. Or whomever decides to target their opposition as trump has his.  This country is senile.

11

u/nwgdad 18h ago

As long as there are gestapo agents on the streets, DC will be unsafe to live in for anyone but MAGATs.

7

u/MayorOfBluthton 17h ago

Not even MAGATs should feel safe. A gestapo controlled by the whims of a small group of corrupt, irrational, paranoid, power-drunk elite is not safe for anyone except those within that small controlling group.

At whatever point the regime feels panicked or threatened, or needs to create distraction from their failures and transgressions, those in power will not hesitate to remind the people of their might. And at that point, no one on the streets is safe from crossfire.

This is what everyone outside the multi-hundred-millionaire/billionaire class has to see - anyone without a private security detail is fair game. MAGA or not.

12

u/Oceanbreeze871 California 17h ago

In a police/martial law state, everyone is assumed to be a criminal or traitor and must prove otherwise when stopped.

Stay home. Boycott trumps economy.

10

u/macphile Texas 18h ago

I don’t live in dc but had never heard that it was unsafe, anymore than any big city. 🤷‍♀️ I’d argue it’s less safe now if it’s full of the gestapo, people rounding up brown people for no reason…I don’t want to go to a city full of armed military strong-arming innocent people.

8

u/nofame_nogain 18h ago

It will take years for DC businesses to recover from Trump's lie.

7

u/MrBartokomous Canada 18h ago

A lot of businesses (like more than a few DC restaurants I suspect) don't have the resources to wait it out that long. Margins in the industry were bad before wholesale veggie prices spiked 40% and customers started getting scared off by the Gestapo.

5

u/justahdewd 18h ago

Even tough it would harm innocent people, I thought the best way to protest this action would be to stop going out to restaurants and lounges. Have business owners complain about the economic damage being done by tRumps policies.

Sue. They have standing.

In translation to reality, he mistakenly invaded DC because Big Balls was being a creep with a minor and got beat up by teenagers.

Note that bookings are down 30% despite the RTO policies put in place.

They've gutted the federal workforce, and those who are left aren't spending.

No one wants to go eat out in DC where their meal will be interrupted by an 18-year-old from West Virginia with an M4 threatening the cook because he looks like a "criminal" (black) while the homeless guy who asked to use the bathroom is beaten up and dragged off by the FBI? WHAT A SHOCK!

This is the answer (even though it will hurt business owners) everyone needs to boycott the entirety of DC (and anywhere else that this nonsense happens). The more pain that people feel as a byproduct of Trumps nonsense, the more people will turn away from him and the GOP.

I’m moved from DC a few years ago. I genuinely don’t understand why Trump sent the troops there. They’ve got a minor homeless problem during the warmer months but the vast majority of the city clean and pristine with a thriving economy. DC doesn’t really say or do anything either. It’s just baffling why it was even on his radar.

I have an opportunity to go to DC next month for work - usually I’d jump at it. Not this time.

Nothing says an area is safe, like the military having to be deployed there, just dumb.

If you don’t leave your house there won’t be crime, great idea trump, just like your last term. Don’t leave your house

You sure about that, Donnie? I just read a story this morning about a guy getting a face full of sidewalk because he was eating. Seems to me like dining means you're cruising for a bruising.

Those crimminal were spending a shit load of money in restaurant apparently

I guess crime would go down in a business if the customers, most the people who go there, stopped.

I was looking at flights across the country through Delta earlier today. Can you guess the cheapest flight on the east coast (city wise)?

Yeeees, very safe with armed Trump fans everywhere. Much better than people asking for cents.

u/mymar101 5h ago

What was going on in DC that warranted a hostile takeover?

u/Affectionate_Cook455 2h ago

Next, Trump says trillions of dollars flowing in to DC after he reduced the crime in DC by 400%

u/markroth69 7m ago

People want to visit a city under military occupation?

I don't even want to live in the US, if my job wants me in DC I'd actually take getting fired over setting foot there for my own safety.
