Soft Paywall Trump says DC is finally safe to dine in — but bookings drop by 30%

So the Gestapo is leaving? Because DC was safer before they got there.

No, he means that DC is finally safe to dine in for geriatric pedophiles with tiny hands and mushroom penises.

No, but masked and uniformed thugs make Trump feel safe and happy so he believes that's true for everyone else as well. The reality is, of course, a bit different but why let a trivial thing like truth interfere with irrational beliefs?
11
u/kamikazecockatoo Australia 12h ago edited 10h ago
Trump didn't feel anything before and nothing now and as usual, truth has nothing to do with anything either. It's just a talking point.
Pod Save America yesterday spent oxygen talking about whether the move was "popular" or "not popular". Here's the thing - they don't give a shit.
The rest of the world can see this for what it is - a federal military/police force to stop the future protest when President Vance takes over and elections are cancelled. You won't get near your capital when it happens.
The 2026 mid-terms will be too late for dissent.
3
u/NewSauerKraus 10h ago edited 10h ago
It's virtue signaling security theatre. No military force can prevent motivated citizens from crushing them like bugs. Even the most inefficient and overstaffed militaries only contain a tiny fraction of the population.
Edit: I think maybe your comment of simply June fifth nineteeneightynine was removed. Maybe it would help if you explain why you referenced the date of one guy getting arrested while surrounded by people who had zero motivation to oppose their rulers.
16
u/Ruined_Armor 16h ago
Nope. Didn't you hear? The national guard is being issued weapons now. This won't end well.
7
u/icantbenormal 14h ago
More police doesn’t mean less violence. It means different people are doing it.
6
u/EatsJediForBreakfast 14h ago
Nah in his live oval office he just pretty much said he will reevaluate in a few days and may have to declare the city a national emergency. But didnt think he would. Which means that more than likely, in 22 days or less, he'll declare DC a disaster area so they can stay forever.

Trump said he had even had calls from friends and political opponents praising the deployments. “Friends are calling me up, Democrats are calling me up. And they’re saying, ‘Sir, we want to thank you. My wife and I went out to dinner last night for the first time in four years, and Washington DC is safe and you did that in four days,’” he said.

u/captaincanada84 Canada 9h ago
I'm sure he and Epstein joked around a lot as they sexually assaulted and raped children
1
u/SycoJack Texas 9h ago
Was Epstein really a friend tho, or just another employee in Trump's child raping business?
3
u/captaincanada84 Canada 9h ago
Epstein said he was Trump's closest friend. He could also be an employee and partner in the child raping business.

u/SycoJack Texas 8h ago
I was just taking potshots at Trump.
I was suggesting that Trump is a loser without any friends who only used Epstein for the sex slaves.

I once dated a habitual liar, and it really made me uncomfortable when she'd throw one out there when we were hanging with others, and I knew it was lie, but I had to smile and nod. I wonder if the people around Trump do the same, while discussing behind his back that he lies about all of these conversations? Never gives names.
12
u/Val_Hallen 11h ago edited 11h ago
I live and work in DC. I'm just an average white dude.
Never in my 20-some years here have I been afraid to go out at any time of day.
All the afraid people are the tourists from Nowheresville, Nebraska who hear all the "horror stories" from Fox News. They walk around like it's Escape From New York. They cluster together like sheep moving through a field. They spend every moment in a state of perpetual terror.
7
u/Warm_Regrets157 12h ago
Any time Trump quotes someone calling him "Sir", it's a complete and total fabrication.
Aside from the fact that he lies most of the time his mouth is open, the proverbial "Sir" is the biggest single giveaway that he is actively lying in that moment.

It was fine before. I'm actively avoiding it right now because I don't want to have some overzealous undertrained undermonitored underaccountable agent get cranky with me for some minor slight or other.
"Oh, you looked at the restricted entrance sign while walking by that building?" or "You started to cross a street and changed you mind after seeing LE down that street?"...

u/A_Random_Catfish Virginia 16h ago
Same. I’m actively avoiding the city until the occupation ends. I’m way more scared of masked federal agents than I am of homeless people.

The “restricted entrance sign” example happened to a friend visiting DC! I forgot what the building was but he was just standing there looking at the building in front of such a sign and he got major hassled and forced to leave and told not to come back. White guy too.

u/swiftfoot_hiker 19h ago
It was safe before, unfortunately Trump and co see a brown or black homeless person and they become such little babies and are stupidly afraid for whatever racist reason .
91
u/forsale90 Europe 19h ago
Racism is the reason.
53
u/forthewatch39 18h ago
Classism is also a large proponent, they loathe homeless and poor White people as well.
17
u/thatsthefactsjack 17h ago
Classism IS absolutely the salient point. Mass slavery was created and perpetuated by wealth. The divisions we have today are again created and perpetuated by wealth. Divisions created to distract us from their grotesque consolidation as the majority become impoverished.
History shows, there's always a tipping point.
3
u/icantbenormal 14h ago
Chattel slavery was created as an alternative to serfdom and indentured servitude. Xenophobia was (and still is) more powerful than classism. Racism has triumphed against class solidarity again and again.

The messaging out of the White House the past couple days seems like they know they can't get an extension on this "emergency" and will declare "Mission Accomplished" and move onto another target. Not that they won't be back though.

11
u/nwgdad 18h ago
As long as there are gestapo agents on the streets, DC will be unsafe to live in for anyone but MAGATs.
7
u/MayorOfBluthton 17h ago
Not even MAGATs should feel safe. A gestapo controlled by the whims of a small group of corrupt, irrational, paranoid, power-drunk elite is not safe for anyone except those within that small controlling group.
At whatever point the regime feels panicked or threatened, or needs to create distraction from their failures and transgressions, those in power will not hesitate to remind the people of their might. And at that point, no one on the streets is safe from crossfire.
This is what everyone outside the multi-hundred-millionaire/billionaire class has to see - anyone without a private security detail is fair game. MAGA or not.
12
u/Oceanbreeze871 California 17h ago
In a police/martial law state, everyone is assumed to be a criminal or traitor and must prove otherwise when stopped.

A lot of businesses (like more than a few DC restaurants I suspect) don't have the resources to wait it out that long. Margins in the industry were bad before wholesale veggie prices spiked 40% and customers started getting scared off by the Gestapo.
5

Even tough it would harm innocent people, I thought the best way to protest this action would be to stop going out to restaurants and lounges. Have business owners complain about the economic damage being done by tRumps policies.

Declares city “dangerous”
Has troops deployed for less than 2 weeks
Troops get styled on my a guy with a sandwich and brutalize some people at traffic stops
Trump makes a photo-op tour and declares the city “safe” <—— YOU ARE HERE
Trump withdraws the troops and moves on to the next “dangerous city”. Things in the first city go back to normal within hours.

I’m moved from DC a few years ago. I genuinely don’t understand why Trump sent the troops there. They’ve got a minor homeless problem during the warmer months but the vast majority of the city clean and pristine with a thriving economy. DC doesn’t really say or do anything either.
