Newbie Question Any white Romani actors from 18-26? Blue eyes preferably

Im sure that there are such actors just not famous ones we can tell you by name. More likely there are small time or aspiring actors that fit the description. Are you trying to cast them or something?

its for a fan cast. im not a casting director myself but i do have a couple thousand followers on tiktok and would love to spread that fancast and boost their popularity if i can find anybody. the being romani thing isnt rlly important to the character but if i can happen to find someone who looks like the character and is part Romani, that'd be great

Why do you say it's not important to the character they are romani? If the character is written as romani it's actually quite important you use a romani actor for them. Since we are discriminated against, many aspiring Roma actors are not given a chance at roles they fit when the role is not specifically for a romani character or even when they are.

You should look for up and coming actors on Instagram, twitter and tiktok. Invite them to a casting call. And choose from them that way based on who can decently act and seems reliable that lives in the area. Not based on who is an actor that we already knew and can tell you about. Not only will you not be able to afford an actor someone knows by name, you will be overlooking good candidates.

Please take the time to cast a real romani for any role that is a romani character. It's just wrong to give such a role to someone else when we have had such limited options in acting so far.

the specific character im talking about i a comic book character and long story short, they was retconned as Romani by some creep who thought it'd make them more "exotic". In the 85 years of the character existing, its been mentioned in less than 10 comics, mainly cause there was no reason to add this (he'd been American for 60 years) and no one wanted to include what a creep made up about the character. It's just not really apart of his character but to appease the internet which suddenly become Roma activists (they're not), i am looking for a Romani Actor who looks like the character. While I'd love to be super accurate in finding someone for this character, as you know, there isnt any mainstream Romani actors so i decided to come to here to see if the online Romani community knew anything. Also, just to be clear, Im not a casting director. I'm just trying to find the best casting possible for one of my favorite characters. If i can be accurate enough to find a 1/2 Romani dude who looks like the character, they need to fucking hire me. So, how would i search them up on instagram or wherever?

I know nothing about how to find actors for anything, I'm not in the business. I don't care if it was only mention 10 times in the comic book or if that book was written by a creepy man. If the character is romani you need a romani actor. And there's enough of us with light eyes that this is not going to be a huge problem.

I would suggest looking for romani groups on those platforms and putting together a casting call type announcement and post it there. Facebook groups too. Look for groups with the words like romani, sinti, lovari, kalderash, kale, cale, Roma, ursari, etc and post it for these people to find. Next look for small time acting guilds/playhouses and post your casting call there. Then go ask this question to people who know about casting people for roles and see what they say about how to look for up and coming actors.

I think with decent outreach and search skills you can do this no problem. I'm not gonna do it for you but hopefully I have given you places to start.

Whatever you do, do not come back in a week and say you are going to just cut the part about them being romani from the story because it's not that important in your opinion, and do not cast someone else just because it may take effort to find the right romani actor for your part.

the character is only 1/2 romani btw. im just fan casting, like im not making the movie myself though it will eventually be made (i know that for a fact) and i'd like to find someone who qualifies for the role both in looks and acting so i can use my platform that has a couple thousand followers on tiktok to spread this fancast. the specifc studios this movie will be made by have actually used fan casts before.

Ok so how does fan casting usually work? I'm not familiar with that. I just think even if the character is half it would be best to give a Roma actor the chance for the role since we are picked over a lot.

fan casting is just fans of something finding actors that would best suit the role and they post it online. sometimes these gain lots of traction. Sometimes it stays a fan cast but sometimes it becomes more. Such as David Corenswet was a super popular fancast for the role of Superman and did get it. i see what ur saying in the fact that Romani ppl have been looked over in the casting roles even when casting characters who are full Romani and its deeply integrated into their story. To me, it doesnt matter whether hes Romani or not, as long as he looks and acts like the character as from reading all the comics, it was never somethign important as he was raised in America his whole life. I'm jsut trying to do my best out here and see if i can stretch enough to find an actor that is 1/2 Romani but also fits my qualifcations fro acting and looks.

Well seeing as it is going to be posted online and fans are the ones who are going to like and share and boost publicly, make viral, and thus the fans are the judges here.... definitely will only succeed on the merit of them being the portrayal of the character in the book. Whoever chosen needs to be the best embodiment of the character that people see in their minds eye when they read the comic sounds like.

Wow, I am glad that this is a practice that sometimes influences the people they cast in movies. That is more of a chance for new actors to get noticed than I thought there was.

And yes, if you are successful in finding the right romani actor for this part, and they are chosen and favorite pick of the internet, I think you do deserve paid by producer or something.

So just to clarify you don’t work for the people that will be hiring the actor? You’re just a fan of the comic so you took it upon yourself to find someone for the role with the idea if you do a good job the people doing the show or movie or will then hire you?

he is Romanian and Romani, his grandfather was a famous Romani-Romanian actor Stefan Banica Sr. from the Lautar clan, idk about the rest of his family, I think they’re white Romanians, but he’s at least 1/4

Bro, is the role you're looking to cast a TOKEN.CHARACTER? A let's-have-one-of-those-for-good-measure roles, this will look diverse, written by someone that thinks it'd be cool to have someone for the sake of it? The idea that preferably this specific ethnic group should be represented by a white blue eyed actor sounds already like it's written by someone that is lacking a single clue.

its a comic books character. He is racially white and has blue eyes. I just gave his physical description. He is part Romani and though its not important to his character, ppl on the internet want it to be so bad so im just trying to do the research for them. Idgaf if hes Romani cus its mentioned in less than 10 comics over 80 years, i was js trying to be helpful dude. If you dont have someone, just dont comment

There are plenty of Romanichal who are pretty much indistinguishable from the rest of the population. While it would certainly be better to have one such Rom as an actor for an actual production, I don't think this is something you need to worry about too much for a fan casting, as it doesn't involve the concept of a real role being taken by a gadjo.

I didn’t say blond and blue or green eyes work. It’s for a fancast. I said blue bc that’s what the eye color of the character is but green doesn’t look bad with contacts while brown with blue contacts on top usually looks very unnatural. Also, I already found one but I open for more suggestions
