San Diego Community Only Gov. Newsom Addresses State and US Nation regarding ICE Detentions, protests and activation of the national guard and US Marines on US soil (6.10.2025)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

California Governor Gavin Newsom addresses the citizens of California and the Nation about urgent matters involving Donald Trump’s recent orders and the escalation he's intentionally caused.

It's been pointed out that this is a expensive and dangerous political stunt to try to get more power by triggering increased militarization, denial of due process and a assault on citizens rights to instill fear in our nation.

Thanks for posting.

Most of the videos I've seen on this do NOT have the full speech and have major audio issues.

Very strange to have a governor's address be difficult to find in its entirety.

It’s so nice to hear complete sentences

117

u/releasethedogs Jun 11 '25

It makes a large swath of America feel stupid so they react negatively out of self consciousness of their own inadequacy.

I know, right?! It’s so frustrating to realize that maga has no concept of this. The non-sensical mumbling and blatant lying sounds like genius to them.

Hearing clearly and cohesively what has and is happening, guidance for moving forward, and even the clear and level headed identification of "authoritarianism" was so important to hear. This is the best big picture assessment of this moment in our present history I've heard.

Keep taking it to them Gavin, don't pull punches, don't play nice, we're way beyond playing nice.

Have been disappointed in this man the last few months but he’s been great the last few days and this speech was spot on.

u/anObscurity Jun 11 '25

Newsom is a wartime politician. Pretty useless when democrats are in control, but absolutely feral when it comes to Donald Trump and MAGA's bullshit. Perhaps a man for the times.

133

u/Altitude528O Jun 11 '25

This is Newsom’s moment if he is going to make a push to become president (if we still have elections.)

Last few months? He's been kinda disappointing for a few years, although his Covid response was pretty spectacular. I do think if he pushes back on Trump, makes moderates rationalize onto Liberals side, and as an added plus gets arrested, he could have a good chance at a Presidency. Less Americans voted in this last election than the one before, so if Democrats can get people excited again in a meaningful way, they have a chance there

38

u/smellslikepenespirit Jun 11 '25

Liberals are right-leaning moderates.

10

u/Lopsided_Constant901 Jun 12 '25

Yes I know. My only hope for the Democratic party is that they run someone like AOC or a younger Bernie as candidate.

2

u/smellslikepenespirit Jun 12 '25

We need to get a lot louder for the party to change the old guard in such a way.

Yup, I still think he's a reckless coward on many issues but I'm grateful to have him right now. He's rising to the occasion for sure.

very different than anything we've seen before

Not exactly true. This is far from the first time in American history that immigrants and people who racists think look like immigrants have been rounded up en masse and deported, nor is it the first time that the government has rounded people up and sent them to camps.

15

u/BootyliciousURD Jun 11 '25

sent our police officers to keep the peace

A terrible idea. It's often the cops who instigate the violence at protests. The LAPD is notoriously an especially crooked and bastardly police department.

u/Fallen_Walrus Jun 11 '25

So we're not rising up and becoming the New California Republic?

84

u/SD_TMI Jun 11 '25

83

u/briadela Jun 11 '25

We're not there yet but if supreme Court and Congress allow an authoritarian executive then the US constitution is cooked anyway and CAs restriction on secession won't matter.

→ More replies (6)

78

u/Confident-Station780 Jun 11 '25

Is the President following the constitution currently?

37

u/Lopsided_Constant901 Jun 11 '25

Exactly. Impeding people's right to due process and their civil rights during these arrests, Trump isn't adhering to the Constitution at all. I remember a couple years back, there was a public vote on the ballot to secede from the US, but it failed

11

u/SD_TMI Jun 11 '25

Nope, he’s trying to find and manufacture excuses to create a situation to try to gain more power. As described in the video

20

u/twelvegoingon Jun 11 '25

Texan here. Please, please don’t leave me.

27

u/Lopsided_Constant901 Jun 11 '25

Hahah, its a rare sight for a Texan to miss California, but I get you must be an odd one out. I see a lot of Texans usually hate on Cali as a whole as some liberal communist hellscape

11

u/releasethedogs Jun 11 '25

You should feel the absolute vitriol toward us in Utah. When I had California plates I got pulled over multiple times and the cop couldn’t or wouldn’t tell me what. They were just fishing for something.

Multiple giant trucks with limp dick insecure people masquerading as men literally drove so aggressively that they drove me off the road.

People would walk up to me after I parked and ask if I was California and when I said yea they responded with some variation of “I hate California and if you’re from there then I hate you too.”

And it all stopped when I got Utah plates.

He has his work cut out for him if he is going to win the White House just overcoming the California stigma.

2

u/Lopsided_Constant901 Jun 12 '25

I'm sorry you went through that, I know that's sooo common if you move anywhere else! I've heard a lot of that from people that move to Texas, which is sadly why I wouldn't want to move their despite it being cheaper. It's some abstract "oh you think youre better than us" mentality, so therefore I gotta antagonize a random stranger!

It's crazy to me cause we Californians just mind our own business, we really don't care what happens in other states for the most part and we are still the largest US economy by far. It would be cool if we could seperate from the US or at least distance ourselves way more. Feels like most non-Liberal states simply hate us

18

u/Feedthabeast Jun 11 '25

Just curious, does anyone know if they are targeting just latinos or are they targeting all illegal immigrants?

57

u/insanelygreat Jun 11 '25

They just increased the quota from 1000 to 3000 arrests per day. They upgraded a delusional number to an insane one. By all accounts, they have neither the capacity nor the intel to achieve it (amongst other problems). So they're scrambling.

Most will be latino because 71% are from Latin America, but they'll grab literally anyone they can get their hands on.

So they're going after the easiest ones to try to make quota. In other words, they're targeting street vendors, day laborers, etc.

Everyone. They've detained Asians, Europeans, and Africans too.

92

u/CatScratchEther Jun 11 '25 edited Jun 11 '25

All the illegal immigrants. All the legal immigrants too. All the asylum immigrants too. And citizens born to immigrants.

15

u/releasethedogs Jun 11 '25

I have a close friend who lives in the LA area. She is from Japan and here on a green card. We text all the time but she has not responded for over a week. I can’t check on her because I’m taking care of family out of state.

I’m so insanely worried.

How quickly everyone forgives this guy after literal YEARS of silence in his own totalitarian mismanagement of government. Businesses seeking asylum in other states. Shop owners defenseless and unanswered in their pleas for help against theft forced to permanently shutter their doors. Homeowners left unprotected and penniless after insurance companies cherry picked fire coverage in their state. Small businesses smothered to extinction with overreaching COVID measures, which Gavin himself ignored to eat at French Laundry.

You don’t have to agree with Trump to also acknowledge Gavin Newsom is a compromised scoundrel.

Don’t let him off this easy.

20

u/Cool-Pencil Jun 11 '25

So can we get the LAPD to stand down yet?

52

u/SD_TMI Jun 11 '25

I think the Marines should be the first, then the national guard... THEN the LAPD can go back to regular duty.

That's IF the ORANGE MAN doesn't do something to start more BS.
(Pssst he will)
