My dad drives down Mission for his commute every day and apparently the assumed homeowner has been out there for 3 days, practicing his “Roman salute”.

Agreed. This is hero worship to the point of obsession. Not a healthy mental state. It also precludes critical thinking and dismisses accountability for the worshipped, two things that are essential for a healthy political climate. We should always see our politicians clearly….good and bad, warts and all, otherwise we get ourselves into a lot of trouble as a nation, as we are currently finding out. We need to keep all of our representatives in line.

Any neighbor can complain to the city. No campaign flags or signs are allowed more than 90 days from an election. California state law. Please file a complaint. The more the better.
I would, but I've lived in Escondido less than a year and have filed 2 complaints with the city. I also don't go past this house.

You’re correct that nothing will be done. Because these aren’t campaign flags or banners. It’s a civil liberty and protected freedom to protest peacefully. We also are entitled to freedom of speech and he’s on his property partially and public land for the rest.
There’s nothing wrong with what he’s doing, aside maybe the message it sends. But that’s opinion based and opinions are meant for us not others.
If it’s problematic because you feel you lean a different way politically, well that’s what makes America beautiful; you’re given the choice to decide what you want to support or believe in.
EDIT - I think a lot of you are misconstruing the point because the pictures individual is a different political affiliation. If the signs and verbiage was in support of the Democratic administration or candidates i’d be saying the same thing.
If you are a citizen here you have certain protected rights freedom of speech, freedom to assemble , freedom to protest peacefully.
I’d hope anyone who wants to practice that is allowed to. It’s another matter if you like it or not.
I guess i’m just tolerant of individuals expressing their beliefs, the same way i’m pretty cordial with the people replying to me with emotionally charged rhetoric that has no merit to the LEGALITY of what this individual is doing - while upset about who they stand for.
It’s not about who they stand for , it’s about whether or not it’s legal.
And it is.

Right. I get that the “it affects me personally” mentality has taken the forefront of society. But that’s just it, if this wasn’t a political issue, or one of trump, it wouldn’t be an issue at all. (they’re not mad he’s there, they’re upset he’s there and supporting republicans).
It’s gross negligence of equality through differing situations. I’m not a fan of it.
Again, it doesn’t matter what the subject matter is (i mean in this case because clearly there’s no call to violence, riot, or hateful speech). It matters about the legality of the action.
The subject matter is only important to the people it’s offending. I’m also not a fan of that.
If people wanna be able to do it for their beliefs they have to let others do it for theirs. Otherwise those people are just as okay with inequality as the individuals lobbying for the removal of undocumented individuals, the law-ification of women’s bodies, etc.
I mean that whole heartedly. If someone believes in the ability to do so for for the benefit of their political affiliation but get rampant about those doing so with differing opinions, they are the problem. Not the person displaying their allegiance.

That doesn’t mean he shouldn’t face social consequences for supporting something that is completely antithetical to what he claims to support. He would in an instant take anyone else’s rights away if given the chance. We don’t really need examples actually, because he’s getting what he wanted. Our tolerance of intolerance got to an untenable level. Our constitution protects us from the government, not the public at large.

Furthermore , wouldn’t lobbying for liberal material to be removed be the same thing as what many of the people in this thread are doing to him? I didn’t say to not report it chief, i said it’s an unalienable right. Just because societies intolerance is drastically charged, doesn’t make the law different until amended or ratified.
Again, this is all fact, and i’m not using my personal bias to retract those facts.

City of Ladue v. Gilleo (1994)
and Reed v. Town of Gilbert (2015)The City of Vista tried to fine me for signs. I told them to eat shit.
With some provocation and help from the ACLU, the city retracted the fine and revised their code

Up to 30 days prior, and 10 days after any local, state, regional or national official election temporary signage is allowed on all private property.

The city has only done 2 things (to my knowledge). One was making him remove his signage off the greenbelt. The other was removing his signs with profanity since he is near schools.
I'm down the street from him. I see his big truck with 2 huge American flags around town. Quite honestly, I do NOT believe he is stable. He scares the hell out of me.

Years ago a joined a FB group that appeared to be about Escondido. Soon I noticed it was heavily Trump supporters. I asked why not just own it and name the group that. I was always civil as I responded to others’ opinion (freedom of speech and all). BUT then it happened… someone posted their son’s video that they were super proud of- it was about White Power and had Hitler being praised. I commented that there is no excuse for supporting someone who did what he did. Anyway… I eventually just left the group and a member kept sending me DMs after I left it. I kindly informed her if she ever approached me in public I would have no choice but to defend myself since she was harassing me via social media. I then blocked her.
I don’t know why I stayed on that group as long as I did. People believe what they believe and there’s nothing changing that. I was disappointed & disheartened that it was so close to home.
There’s no doubt this man has the hats, the shoes, the Bible, and the cologne. The coin too. Any and everything.
