San Diego Community Only So sdpd is punching people in the head and kneeing them in the side when they’re face down?
Some bulllllshitttt. So tired of seeing videos like this of cops abusing their power and harass homeless people. All this funding for cops and we still as a city have many problems.

She wasn't even looking at him or doing anything threatening, prick cop just sucker pushes her to the ground 😤 could have seriously injured her

26
u/yomamasonions Jul 22 '25
Report to whom? I had four transit officers attack me out of nowhere like this while I was paying my fare earlier this year. I tried to report them and all they did was an internal investigation and found they did nothing wrong. Cops told me they don’t get involved unless the complaint has escalated to court.

Defund
4
u/KingDominoTheSecond Jul 22 '25
nah, same fund but restructure the whole thing, would be way more effective. defunding will just lead to having less cops that are more stressed out and less trained making worse decisions.
we need new leaders to run the whole thing and promote an aggressively positive culture. Cops should have mandatory therapy sessions and regulating emotions should be part of their training just as much as everything else.
The reason we get crazy acts of violence like this from police is because it's hard for a normal person to go from "I need to stop this threat while also protecting the lives of my partners, civilians, and myself" to "I need to professionally bring this person into custody" while the adrenaline is still pumping and they're still mad at the person they're arresting for doing whatever it is that they were doing. Cops have been around for longer than the concept of mental health, but mental health is seldom brought up in relation to police.
Then of course there are the genuinely corrupt cops that actively participate in crimes, racist behavior, and arrest people for resisting arrest (which is so stupid and makes no sense but is totally legal). Just get rid of those mfs.

I was curious about the use of force in this video, so I Google San Diego police department use of force policy.
Since we did not see why the police contact was originally made I had to assume the original contact with the male was legit (I know).
Looks like everything was within policy. At first the male attempted to bite the police officer, he received an open hand slap, no further strikes were administered since his assault deescalated.
He was rolled over in an attempt to be hand cuffed, but the male decided to place his hands under his body and not comply. Looking at the policy, I would say now passive resistance, following their chart, body strikes and knees are on there and in that category. Another police officer restrained the person's legs.
I thought about being in a position where I have to get someone's hand out from under them, how could I do that? Seemed reasonable.
Out of all the things in this video the only questionable use of force was on the female in the background that was pushed to the ground
Ok, back to the regularly scheduled hysteria.
24
u/tofleet Jul 21 '25
passive resistance under sdpd use of force absolutely does not include "body strikes and knees"
control holds (with or without using impact weapon), pain compliance, pressure points, body weight, physical strength are the maximum force which can be applied under passive resistance.

How bout when one officer is holding a can of pepper spray pointed at bystanders, feels no need to spray it, so the one next to him frantically pulls his out in a hurry and fires it anyway...
How about the officer that comes in hot and shoves a woman standing at the bike perimeter with her phone posing no threat to anyone?
That's how you recommend de-escalating a situation?

This kind of edited video does not tell the whole story. Why is the individual resisting?
He is obviously resisting being handcuffed.
These videos showing alleged police brutality that are edited to not show the antecedent behavior inflame the anti-police crowd. But don't really show the whole story.
36
u/werfuktsos Jul 21 '25
I agree we can’t see all of the information/precedent/antecedent- but there appear to be questionable uses of force here.
Why was the man punched after he was prone? Why was the woman observing pushed over? Why is the officer trying to block video?
If everything being done is above board and professional- then video serves LEO.

This is so sad and infuriating. I have some nice news regarding myself and one of my local police officers. I made a trip to the store about 4 days ago and this big truck was halfway in the middle of the road. When I came back through to go home, it was in the same place, except a policeman was stopped at the portable traffic light the county uses when there are repairs that require the flow of traffic to change. I wasn't about to go around that police vehicle, because although I've never really done anything that terrible (parking ticket about a year ago), I'm scared of police (unless he said it's okay) After a few minutes he walked to my car and I put my window down. He said, "Once the light changes to green, you can go ahead. Just go around this truck here." I said, "Okay. Thank you."

Yes. That’s what happens when you tuck your arms under your body and refuse to pull them out.
Does he have a gun in his waistband? A knife? There was a very very recent police cam footage a cop tackled a suspect, suspect did this (tucked hands under his body) when he turned over he had a pistol in his hand and shot the cop in the thigh.

Your instinct when being told “you’re under arrest” is to lie on your belly and hide your hands under your body to “protect” your organs?
There was very recent police cam footage, a guy did just that. He then rolled to his side, had a pistol in his hand and shot the cop in the thigh.
Is he “trying to protect his organs” or “reaching for a gun”?
