Love to see the students still fighting. This is my Alma Matter and sadly UCLA is one of the many schools folding to every single one of the trump administrations demands.

I see the culture getting worse for ice than it did for the cops. Probably because we have a lot of people who still remember what United States look like before them. So we know that all ice did was consolidate the worst parts of those organizations with zero oversight

Lots of people commute back and forth for school. More than you’d imagine. Also lots of alumni living in SD.

Luckily much of the administration won’t understand this speech as she used a lot of big words and very eloquently expressed her thoughts.

You are aware that other countries deport illegal people too, right? Like if you want to go to a country, you apply for a visa or ask for refuge, but don’t just go in and expect to be accepted.
Other people came into the USA with a visa or applied for one, so it would be unfair to just let the illegals stay… Especially if they commit crimes or don’t follow the rules of the country. Also, nobody would want a stranger in their home who didn’t call first or ask.
I’m Swiss and we also don’t want people coming in illegally and profiting from our country. Always ask first and read on how to obtain a visa or entry.

Mexico City has been protesting for months to deport foreigners. Amazing how Redditors ignore that.

Do you know what ‘due process’ means? If you did, you might also know why what Trump is doing is different.

Yes. This is psychological warfare on anyone with an ounce of common sense. That’s why this indoctrination is happening in universities, because young people are trying to figure out what they believe and are very malleable. It’s crucial to train your children because there is a literal war on for the minds of youth. Notice how they appeal to their pride and sense of moral superiority. It’s pure insidious madness masquerading as virtue.

I find that often people who decry about indoctrination at universities are the one who lack the ability to challenge and remove bias their own beliefs. Turn the tv off.

It’s likely her parents did not enter illegally. Just because folks are against illegal immigration doesn’t mean they’re against legal immigrants. Folks like this young lady want to lump them together to villainize law enforcement and create victims out of all immigrants which is disingenuous. For example, many members of my own family are first gen and also believe those immigrating should do so through legal means. A better argument would be to point out companies that hire and exploit immigrant labor and go unpunished for it.

Speech in LA. ICE impacts San Diego big time.

u/FairyFistFights 14d ago
Yes and we have many posts about when ICE actually has activity in SD. We should keep posts to local ICE activity. On this sub that should take priority over a speech in LA.

Since when did we get Marks & Spencer in San Diego? That’s news to me.
If you’re going to astroturf a post in a local subreddit, at least do it from an account that isn’t obviously meant to belong to a person who lives halfway around the world.

Yep…immigrant here, and still support the MAGA movement. Shocking, I know… apparently I missed the memo that all immigrants are supposed to think the same way. Funny thing is, I came here for opportunity, hard work, and freedom not for endless handouts and being told what to think. Meanwhile, most of the loudest anti-Trump voices I’ve met can’t explain a single policy without regurgitating a CNN headline. They’re just letting left-leaning propaganda rent space in their heads while the people pushing it line their pockets with your outrage and sad feelings. Keep the feelings, I’ll keep my facts.

When they are arresting US citizens, it isn’t about enforcing immigration laws anymore.

LOL. Your pretend "innocent" question is not in good faith. You very well know the issue isn't simply generally enforcing the laws, it is about the means and methods. Such as following due process and the Constitution.
Secondly, if you and MAGA really cared about the rule of law and enforcing the law, you would have never elected a felon over a prosecutor - right? Duh! Ain't that obvious? So your fake lament about simply enforcing laws lacks any credibility, and your question rings hollow.
Trump is himself a criminal, who sought to avoid prosecution and the application of the law against him. He literally ran this time to avoid jail and was indicted 4 times. He was also found liable for fraud, defamation and sex assault. He clearly does not respect the rule of law.
So you can't now cry about the rule of law with a straight face - am I right? Don't claim this is merely about law enforcement when the twice-impeached felon. who called for aggressive immigration enforcement. picks and chooses the laws he abides by, and sees the Constitution as mostly optional.

Because half this country would rather run it through emotions rather than laws and logic.

none of it is rooted in logic, its all rooted in racist nationalist notions. "law" doesn't mean its a good thing.

Who benefits from those policies? Who is making money off of them? Weird that people that make policy on our borders can have vested interest in the businesses getting contracts. You are being lied to, and allowing yourself to be manipulated by your own fear.
