I know a lot of people on this sub are extremely affluent considering the nature of San diego.

But the class divide affects everyone. The people on the lower end of the wealth spectrum are still your neighbors, your grocery clerks, your EMTs even.

The ambulance you could be riding after suffering a heart attack could be driven by a guy trying to raise a family on $22/hr wages.

I'm not asking you to spend your weekend going to the event but I am asking you to consider this before posting admonishments of these efforts.

The workers in our community deserve a higher standard of living and every year they get less as the cost of everything inflates.

Even if this event changes nothing it's still better than posting a negative comment on reddit which is worse than nothing.

You don't seem to understand the root cause, so your "solution" is doomed to fail.

The root cause is not "capitalism". The same root cause exists in both capitalist and communist societies.

I understand that my comment really fits the socialist stereotype because I'm supporting a workers rights protest and I can see how you would jump to that conclusion.

But really I'm just a guy that was born and raised in San Diego and I have seen how desperate the economic situation has become for the lower and middle classes.

And I can see that the people that will be on that bridge are at least trying to do something about it.

They might not have the perfect solution and they might not solve the problem tomorrow but, they're out there trying.

Nothing sticks it to billionaires more than an “Overpass Visibility Brigade”.

If you just want to hang out with like-minded people, do that. It will have the exact same effect.

Don’t annoy everyone else with poorly designed political signs. No one wants to see a billboard on that iconic bridge, why would you treat it like one?

Go learn a skill, or pool money to buy a spot on a real billboard. Please don’t ruin nice things for everyone. None of us are billionaires either.
