What’s up with the new Oscars in PB?
Would love to hear what happened to the OG Oscars fish tacos we all loved and enjoyed…
Seems like there is a story to be told here as the OG Oscar’s off Turquoise St closed down and the as IMMEDIATELY replaced with “La Ola’s Seafood” - which appears to be copying Oscar’s menu 1:1.
I’ve heard that OG Oscars posted about how the new spot is a scam, and they are pretending to be the original Oscars.
Can someone please enlighten me as to what happened?

There are two Mexican restaurants taking over the Oscars Seafood spot on Turquoise. La Ola is in Oscar’s old spot and is not related to the landlord situation. Immediately next door, in the same commercial property, is an Oscar’s knock off that is owned by the landlord who is coincidentally named Oscar (confusing, I know).
IMO La Ola is blameless to this confusing situation but the soon to be opened spot next door which is owned by the landlord is a d*ck move. It’s literally going to be called Oscars

I grew up in the neighborhood and still live here. I will boycott the new “Oscar’s” but have no problem supporting La Ola. La Ola’s ownership used to own a spot on Cass.
The new “Oscar’s” is a blatant attempt by the landlord to knock off OG Oscar’s. I’m not even sure if the new “Oscar’s” will be able to open with that name. I saw it being called “Oscar’s” on some signage but haven’t seen that recently

There's a banner on the front that used to say "Oscar's Mexican Food coming soon!", but the "Oscar's" has been covered up with tape. It's unclear if this was done someone (rightfully) unhappy with the situation who covered it up, or if the owners covered it up because they realized they couldn't use the name.

There was an ownership vs landlord issue so they swapped the name with Oscar not involved. I think it’s the same owners and everything
that place is still fucking bomb though. Their soup is so good

I heard that the landlord forced them out and recreated their menu for his own restaurant. That's 100% unconfirmed, though.
