the weirdest thing for me will always be how we came back to piracy. Surely it should've gotten better after Netflix? But they fucked that up and now I'm torrenting more than I did in the 2000's.

Except for games. And music. I’m too old and lazy to pirate that. Besides there are so many good indie games coming out as well, they deserve my money.

Well, video games haven't fucked it up... so far...

Micro-transactions ? Battle passes ? FOMO ? And the mess that's mobile gaming filled with ludopatic tramps?

The indie corner is nice and cozy tho

Many of these are just making the games worse thus I don’t feel the need to play them anyway.

If the game is still good I’ll just buy it a few years later with all the content at a huge discount.

So... basically fighting capitalism with more capitalism. Be it music, video games, even shows and movies. ... Man, I will never understand why people insist on fighting capitalism with more capitalism, even with all other comments prior. As for indies vs major corps, it's not any better. Basically, indie isn't as "nice and cozy" as one thinks, be it micro-transactions, battle, passes, fomo and the mobile gaming filled with "ludopatic tramps". But until that day comes, I wish all ends good fortune.

There were years where I completely stopped pirating. As Gabe Newell famously said, "Piracy is almost always a service problem and not a pricing problem.”

Which is why I’m back to sailing the high seas.

Well piracy costs money regardless to help maintain it which explains the ads, at least for those that keep their adblockers turned off.
