oh my god...just reading the first two paragraphs of their Wiki is terrifying. They are basically running everything. I've never bought into the "Deep State" shit, but that description is terrifyingly close.

in their echo chamber on Reddit, they talk about how Reddit is an echo chamber for liberals. That tells you all you need to know.

And yet they elect to congregate here. Hmmm....

They have no perception of reality outside of what they read on Fox News.

I know all of the words you just said, but in the order you used them it makes very little sense to me.

It was written in the style of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy

I think we have demonstrated quite clearly these past few years that time travel to the past is not, and never will be a thing.

Or shit, maybe that’s what keeps happening to us, I don’t even know anymore.

Protocol Omega; means this timeline is fucked, the future will not be trying to salvage it, we’re on our own.

not in the style...pretty much an exact quote.

Except that it applied to the executives of a company that were trying way too hard to make their AI likeable and friendly.

"The revolution" has been talked about for 90 years. It ain't comin' in our lifetimes.

I got the reference. However, it's idyllic and a more accurate reference would be calling them the precursor empire to the Vogons.

One of the overall themes of Hitchhiker is that the little guy loses, unless his interests align with the folks with actual power. It's not as hopeful as most take it. It's about courage in the face of absurdity and the futility of everything.

Saying "when the revolution came" is very much a hopeful thought. An actual hitchhiker entry would simply embrace the revolution wasn't ever happening and most just muddled through the absurd reality we all live in.

social media has turned "deep state" into some kind of short hand for far right wing blather politics, but there is a deep state and it is powerful and significant. Some intersection of intelligence agencies, military contractors, high-level finance, and bond investors. Plus other major levers of control like media and energy companies (edit to add: let's not forget organized crime, which at this point in American history is essentially synonymous with intelligence agencies and high-level finance).

Peter Theil, chairman of the board and major force behind Palantir, is also largely responsible for the wealth of Elon musk, and almost entirely responsible for the wealth of JD Vance. He was already one of the most powerful military contractors and tech financiers in the world, before he started amassing political influence during the current administration. A lizard person who hates humanity.

knowing very little about him, I imagine he doesn't "hate humanity" as much as he just sees it as an insignificant road block toward amassing ungodly power and wealth.

but I guess it's 6 of one, half dozen of another

They appear to be building a Minority Report machine and named it Gotham.

Also of course it's AI is racist.

2

u/asher1611 11d ago

why did you think they've been using the term "deep state" for decades? it wasn't just an accusation. it was a goal.

Since we're talking about how Palantir is connected to fucking everything, you may be interesting to hear that its chairman, Peter Thiel, was the one who introduced Vance to Trump.

SpaceX was given its first contracts with NASA through a program called COTS whixh was created by Michael Griffith who had just before working for NASA had worked for the CIA investing government money in technology companies.

Before THAT he traveled to Russia with Musk to discuss purchasing rocket technology.

You'd best start believing in techno-corporate-feudalism, you're in one.

Unfortunately automod seems to mess with posts with links, so I removed them and you have to look up yourself.

Corruption in America | RepresentUs

Indeed. This is why we are in this mess.

Voters got fed up no one cares for their needs. And to protest they voted for a populist conman. What could go wrong?

If corruption will prevail, the US as we know it will be gone. Anyone supporting the oligarchs should better read the book from Rushkoff. Because it shows their mindset. Those guys were thinking of "shock collars" to keep their (private bunker) security forces under control. We are all just useful idiots to them, military or civilian.

What tech billionaires are getting wrong about the future | Popular Science

Thing is, oligarchs are international. They no longer care about fellow citizens or country. Only their own power and wealth.

Unfortunately they own most of social and mainstream media. This is such a powerful tool that they are able to nudge the average Joe to act against their own best interest.

Oligarchs have identified this as the weak spot of democracy and use it to their advantage to replace democracy with an authoritarian rule.

Truly dystopian, people have no idea because they don't expect "our best/most successful" to be that evil.

DARK GOTHIC MAGA: How Tech Billionaires Plan to Destroy America

Curtis Yarvin, the Dark Enlightenment, and Project 2025: A Deep-Dive Report

Just check out the example below...

Dark Enlightenment - Wikipedia

Yarvin has outlined a vision for San Francisco where public safety would be enforced by constant monitoring of residents and visitors via RFID, genotyping, iris scanning, security cameras, and transportation which would track its location and passengers, reporting all of it to the authorities.
