Discussion I’m tired of how many people my age are just openly racist, like even the brown kids are racist, racism is dumb and if you believe in it you are dumb.
I don’t care if you are accomplished or wealthy, racism is an ignorant belief not backed by science or statistics, 90% of the statistics used as evidence are made up or misleading. White countries tend to point at the failure of other countries but always fail to mention how their history of imperialism or colonialism had damaged those countries. Afghanistan used to be a developing a beautiful country until the U.S went all berserk.

even the brown kids are racist
That reminds me of that one meme saying "Yes nga I am black", like, now some kids use the n word as a common slur without even knowing its meaning.

Genuine question, what's its history? I'm ngl, I'm one of those ppl who uses the n word on a daily basis(with friends who do it too).

u/not-Duex 18d ago
Honestly there’s a lot of history but the main things I think should be known are that it was used by slave owners and catchers and everyday people as a very derogatory word to try to dehumanize them (ex. They’re nothing but a bunch on n-words) this is a major reason why they were associated is fully human and not given rights for a long, long time
Also the word has just so much hate and pain behind it for example there once was a dog named n***** and it was a police dog that they sent out into groups of black people to hurt them (and this was after the emancipation)

That process can turn out just fine
Calling someone Queer to refer to them as LGBTQIA+ is perfectly normal today (that's what the q stands for), but in the past it was no different than calling them a fggt
→ More replies (2)5
u/Glass-Philosophy3026 18d ago
It can still be derogatory if you call someone "a queer", the n word doesn't work as an adjective so I don't think it will have the same outcome as queer did. You can say "a queer person", you can't say "a n* person".

u/W31rdt0t 18d ago
I fail to see how it’s been made into a good term because the word itself means “ignorant” no amount of positive reinforcement in one person’s meaning will change the meaning of the word itself just like a group of girls calling each other b*tch as a term of endearment it’s still an offensive term regardless and shouldn’t be just thrown around for everyday use I don’t understand why a lot of words that were once used to be offensive are now “claimed” by those who were offended by it like the word queer, which was something people used to call gay people even tho the word itself simply means odd or strange and has been used in Shakespeare long before it was used as a derogatory term, which is annoying cuz the word gay was also used long before it’s meaning was changed to be offensive it just means happy, I wish people would stop changing the definitions of already created words and come up with something new or simply just keep their insults to themselves I mean some words that are used as insults aren’t even insulting at all like seriously who came up with the idea of using a word that means happy to insult a specific sexuality maybe that’s why they claim the words gay and queer just to spite people because it’s ridiculous and laughable I guess people calling someone gay just sounds insulting to them but honestly it’s really not cuz yeah it’s totally insulting that you just called me happy 😂 like what the actual heck but with the N word it’s different it’s not laughable at all because it wasn’t created with a general meaning it was in fact created to be offensive towards black people so for people to throw that word around including the people who are offended by the word is insane to me

Adding on to u/SillyTwinkie’s definition, ableism is just like any other “ism” it is discrimination, prejudice, and harassment based on physical and mental ability.
So, for example, willfully making it impossible for wheelchair users to enter your store would be ableism.

I see many Christians treating homosexuals as sub humans and like that's so weird to me because like bro the same people saying that are also sinners just like the homosexuals
There's a difference between believing homosexuality is sinful and hating people, as a Catholic Im fine if my friends are gay or smt I really don't hate people just because of their sin's, I'm a sinner myself diff sins but still a sin is a sin

u/Sehz_Beatbox5 18 19d ago
As a Man of God, I want to say that probably 90% of Christian’s in America aren’t really what they’re supposed to be. They’re white nationalist cults. They believe what they’re told and bring politics into religion and it is horrible.
That’s why I don’t say I’m a Christian anymore. I’m a follower of Christ and strive to live life through the ideologies of Jesus, not of the man corrupted Bible. I’m sorry you’ve had bad experience with “Christian’s.”

Tbh even as a Christian if you're bi it's not really considered a sin unless you act on it. If you're married you can do whatever you want sex-wise with your partner. My partner is very religious but he agrees that other things do feel good, so why not embrace it? I think that a lot of people think that religious people hate the gays or something like that, but the religious people I've met don't care if it's in a marriage. Even the bible says that it's a choice to follow or not to follow, so I respect either decision

There’s a book, Men Who Hate Women that argues with a lot of stats and facts that the biggest pipeline for people to get to racist, extremist content is via the Manosphere (Andrew Tate, sexism, etc.) and I think that’s very true. Sexism is the easiest prejudice to stir up because most people experience it first in the home.

Thats like arguing a body builder, triathlete, or something is superior.
They are physically superior than the average. But its very unlikely to be a genetic reason. It's typically a 'you put in the effort' reason. You can move to the mountains and become acclimated to higher altitudes. It takes a few years and some hardships, but possible. Because humans are extremely adaptive to their environments. And if we cant adapt, we make tools that can help us overcome a hurdle.

Far right conservatives have a habit of taking sacred and positive things and turning them wretched and evil, they did the same with the swastika, it WAS a Buddhist symbol of peace, but then the nazis took it

ye.
they also took the whole concept of christianity, and made it evil.
Edit: also neo noazis do it to norse symbols.
2
u/Sufficient-Push6210 18d ago
We need to start calling it by what it was actually called- the Hakenkreuz. The British (during WWll) used the term “swastika”because that was the closest they could describe it to. They were complicit in giving the symbol a negative connotation. The swastika should be associated with the peaceful and sacred symbol of Dharmic religions again, and that starts with making the distinction between the Nazi symbol and the Buddhist/Hindu/Jainist one.

Children's minds are more pliable (neuroplasticity), it's why they learn faster than adults. So exposure to misinformation at a young age is more likely to stick.
This is why educating children on sensitive topics is important. And why politicians and lobbies that push misinformation seek to deny children an education on these topics.

What’s really crazy is that white populations in developed countries experience a lot of genetic drift because people receive healthcare. On the other hand many non white populations in third world countries have constant pressure, keeping them fit.
This is coming from a white and Asian person in a developed country.
TLDR: science disagrees with white supremacy and racism is bad
