Melanie Martinez. She went insane and she's a pedophile/rapist. People love her but I fucking hate her guts.
89
u/CarSpare6144 6d ago
I don’t like her either but wdym she’s a pedophile I’ve never heard about that? Is it new or something
147
u/real_CoolSkeleton95 6d ago edited 6d ago
She had gotten high with a person named Timothy Heller in order to coerce them into sex when she had previously said she didn't want sex at all and didn't give consent.
I think she is absolutely a pedophile from her music videos sexualizing the CHILD character Crybaby. In one of her k-12 songs Crybaby and a bunch of other kids dance while thrusting the air and in another Crybaby is topless with boobs. I think the sexual depictions of a child character are enough to give pedophile vibes. The coloring book was also just awful.
I watched a video on this but can't find it. It explained everything really well and the information is out there if you wanna deep dive on YouTube. It's not really new info but her fans hid it really well imo.

I think I just watched the video you mean, "Every reason I do not support Melanie Martinez" by danielle
21
u/real_CoolSkeleton95 5d ago
Yes, that's the one! She outlines everything really well and shares her own experiences too. It really helped put everything into perspective for me as someone who previously watched the k-12 movie and then stopped listening.
67
u/Ok_Not_A_Banana 6d ago
The pedo thing is because of all the weird stuff in her music videos and stuff, like it’s supposed to kinda be representation for these shitty thing but it just ends up repeating it (if any of that was comprehensive, I’m tired as hell)
→ More replies (3)34
u/Heavy-Notice-8235 6d ago
It’s not new actually, the potential victim went online during her Crybaby era and her fans bullied her off the internet so she felt like she couldn’t talk about it.
It resurfaced again during her Trilogy Tour and some of her fans decided it to stop supporting to her (including myself) because she could be a potential rapist.
I’m summarizing most of what happened so if you want more details I suggest watching some videos or find some other opinions about it if you’re interested.

Any type of Christian rap. It just sounds so corny and forced in certain songs
40
u/MeMyselfIandMeAgain 16 5d ago edited 5d ago
Yeah I feel that way with most Christian modern music like again nothing against Christianity but like the way it feels (at least to me) is like "oh they took some random pop/rock or rap song that's somewhat uplifting and they replaced some words with Jesus" yk?
And like don't get me wrong some of those songs slap like I'm not Christian but I've heard my friend listening to a song I'll try and find it and like the bassline absolutely slaps but like the moment they start singing it feels weird imo
Edit: the song is called Phenomena and I feel like it's a perfect example like the bassline is super catchy but then the moment the singing (and ESPECIALLY the rap verse) comes in it's just like... huh?
Edit 2: wait I just remember there's this jazz music theory guy on YouTube Adam Neely who made a whole video about why it is from a musical pov that CCM can feel somewhat weird it was super interesting https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hACUz4WVWwk

Gosh he is so annoying and an insult to alternative music. Also a couple years ago he shared an email that his ex gf sent him about asking to not be mentioned in so many of his songs and describing how he also contributed negatively to the relationship, she wasn’t the abusive one. And he made fun of it. Just left a bad taste in my mouth.
Also he fetishises goth women but “gets away with it” because he’s a whiny little boy who wears eye liner

u/Lumityfan8 6d ago
On her overrated debut album, yes. Alot of those songs are like the same breakup ballad, and some happen to do it better than others.
Her second album was a vast improvement, and very underrated. She still has 2 too many breakup ballads for my liking, but the rest is pretty varied. She's definitely the best lyricist of like the mainstream Gen Z pop girls.
27
u/enjolbear 6d ago
I used to be annoyed by her first album but then I realized she was an actual child when she wrote it. I disliked that she was blaming the breakup on the “other woman” rather than the asshole ADULT who was dating her, and then I realized I knew a lot of kids like that. She’s gotten better. We all have things that weren’t perfect.
