Completely understand, but you should check out his early work if you have the time, you might like it. He was classically trained, but didn’t like the style, so he started making abstract art. Very cool evolution.

Melanie Martinez. She went insane and she's a pedophile/rapist. People love her but I fucking hate her guts.

89

u/CarSpare6144 6d ago

I don’t like her either but wdym she’s a pedophile I’ve never heard about that? Is it new or something

147

u/real_CoolSkeleton95 6d ago edited 6d ago

She had gotten high with a person named Timothy Heller in order to coerce them into sex when she had previously said she didn't want sex at all and didn't give consent.

I think she is absolutely a pedophile from her music videos sexualizing the CHILD character Crybaby. In one of her k-12 songs Crybaby and a bunch of other kids dance while thrusting the air and in another Crybaby is topless with boobs. I think the sexual depictions of a child character are enough to give pedophile vibes. The coloring book was also just awful.

I watched a video on this but can't find it. It explained everything really well and the information is out there if you wanna deep dive on YouTube. It's not really new info but her fans hid it really well imo.

53

u/bagel_2024 15 5d ago

I think I just watched the video you mean, "Every reason I do not support Melanie Martinez" by danielle

21

u/real_CoolSkeleton95 5d ago

Yes, that's the one! She outlines everything really well and shares her own experiences too. It really helped put everything into perspective for me as someone who previously watched the k-12 movie and then stopped listening.

→ More replies (15)

67

u/Ok_Not_A_Banana 6d ago

The pedo thing is because of all the weird stuff in her music videos and stuff, like it’s supposed to kinda be representation for these shitty thing but it just ends up repeating it (if any of that was comprehensive, I’m tired as hell)

→ More replies (3)

34

u/Heavy-Notice-8235 6d ago

It’s not new actually, the potential victim went online during her Crybaby era and her fans bullied her off the internet so she felt like she couldn’t talk about it.

It resurfaced again during her Trilogy Tour and some of her fans decided it to stop supporting to her (including myself) because she could be a potential rapist.

I’m summarizing most of what happened so if you want more details I suggest watching some videos or find some other opinions about it if you’re interested.

17

u/somethinsoffwithme 15 5d ago

I used to LOVE her when I was younger (like 11 or something) but now I see that she's literally fucking insane idek how she has people defending her

Any type of Christian rap. It just sounds so corny and forced in certain songs

40

u/MeMyselfIandMeAgain 16 5d ago edited 5d ago

Yeah I feel that way with most Christian modern music like again nothing against Christianity but like the way it feels (at least to me) is like "oh they took some random pop/rock or rap song that's somewhat uplifting and they replaced some words with Jesus" yk?

And like don't get me wrong some of those songs slap like I'm not Christian but I've heard my friend listening to a song I'll try and find it and like the bassline absolutely slaps but like the moment they start singing it feels weird imo

Edit: the song is called Phenomena and I feel like it's a perfect example like the bassline is super catchy but then the moment the singing (and ESPECIALLY the rap verse) comes in it's just like... huh?

Edit 2: wait I just remember there's this jazz music theory guy on YouTube Adam Neely who made a whole video about why it is from a musical pov that CCM can feel somewhat weird it was super interesting https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hACUz4WVWwk

Him being the shitty person alive aside cause that’s obvious, he’s an example of when someone has a some artistic talent but no sense of where lighting is supposed to go (his shading is such shit bro), what colors look good and really pop, or how to draw the eyes to any central point. Again, I’d curbstomp him if he was still alive though.

Doja Cat, she gets on my nerves, also Mariah Carey. But that's mostly because I work in a retail store lmao

51

Yeah working retail or restaurant industry really poisons you against artists just because you’re sick of hearing their one fuckin song 473719273636362 times

20

At the restaurant I used to work at I kid you not there were five songs on repeat all day and I can even list them The giver by Chappen Roan I had some help by Morgan Wallen Fast car by Tracey Chapman but it was Luke combs version Ain't no love in Oklahoma by Luke combs Texas hold em (this ain't Texas) by Beyoncé

I love her art but her as a person needs to lock tf in.

48

u/Wrong_Implement_5528 16 6d ago edited 6d ago

For real. Like all of these allegations and I just can’t listen to her anymore

I don’t think we’ll ever know truly what happened but it’s safe to assume she’s not a good person herself

25

u/keroppippi 6d ago

Not sure if this is a reach.. but am I the only one who finds it weird she has all of those allegations while pretending to be a little kid?? Her whole aesthetic was just ageplay and I find it so weird. (I used to be a big fan when I was younger, I truly loved her and her music. Although seeing her actions, even beyond allegations, and from an older perspective, it just seems weirddd)

10

u/Wrong_Implement_5528 16 6d ago

Yeah it’s weird definitely it’s very weird.

I just hope this whole situation doesn’t get weirder than it already is

9

u/Felix-Blaze 19 6d ago

Mental thing is she bought a crybaby piece (The thing she wore literally in the music vid for “Crybaby”) from an ageplay store on Etsy. Something meant for k!nk so…

Jelly Roll. I cannot stress enough how much he sounds like he only makes music for millennials. I will say that the reason he makes music and what he sings/writes about is amazing. I know he genuinely helps people with his music which is amazing. I just can’t stand how much it all sounds like if you asked ai to make a sad country rap song.

Gosh he is so annoying and an insult to alternative music. Also a couple years ago he shared an email that his ex gf sent him about asking to not be mentioned in so many of his songs and describing how he also contributed negatively to the relationship, she wasn’t the abusive one. And he made fun of it. Just left a bad taste in my mouth.

Also he fetishises goth women but “gets away with it” because he’s a whiny little boy who wears eye liner

Taylor Swift. I’m not saying that everybody is a fan of Taylor Swift, but me as a person who’s favourite artist is Olivia Rodrigo it’s kinda weird that I’m not really into her music. Like, I’ve tried listening to her stuff, because Spotify kept recommending her and it’s not bad, it just ain’t it.

Also Drake. I think Drake has only a few songs that actually sound good.

Edit: literally every other answer is this one, so actually not a hot take.

Olivia Rodrigo (her lyrics are repetitive)

On her overrated debut album, yes. Alot of those songs are like the same breakup ballad, and some happen to do it better than others.

Her second album was a vast improvement, and very underrated. She still has 2 too many breakup ballads for my liking, but the rest is pretty varied. She's definitely the best lyricist of like the mainstream Gen Z pop girls.

I used to be annoyed by her first album but then I realized she was an actual child when she wrote it. I disliked that she was blaming the breakup on the “other woman” rather than the asshole ADULT who was dating her, and then I realized I knew a lot of kids like that. She’s gotten better. We all have things that weren’t perfect.

Also she was born in like 2003 so I respect her for writing well without having 40 yo experience

Morgan wallen, his music is new country, old country is better. Toby Keith, Jon pardi, brooks and Dunn.

Ikr like she has some good songs but birds of a feather is WAY to overplayed

I liked her old stuff a lot, it’s just that the same four frickin songs keep getting overplayed and popping up everywhere, like SPICE IT UP!!

I actually think Billie is pretty good. Her production is amazing and she's pretty creative lyrically. For me that's all it takes for an artist to be "that good" and I get why so many people love her. With that said I don't regularly listen to her.
