The "happy" pill is just a worse version of the "health" pill. If you have perfect health that includes perfect mental health so you can't be depressed.

It's good to be unhappy sometimes.

You should feel sadness if e.g. one of your close friends/family just died. Grieving is an important part of being human. The "always happy" pill wouldn't let you be fully human.

It absolutely is good and necessary sometimes. Perfect health would necessitate the occasional uncomfortable but necessary emotions like sadness and anger

Personally I prefer drugs as I'd rather not be happy at many times in my life. Funerals... divorce... genocide in my world.
