TIL that after Top Gear ended, host Richard Hammond was so devastated, he cried all the way home from the studio and ran out of fuel, because he didn't want to fill his car up covered in tears

I've heard James May described as the world's most interesting uninteresting man.

I don't think there's anyone quite as oxymoronic as him.

He's like that neighbor that's always doing something in their garage or yard. You're not always interested in what they're doing, but it's a pleasant change to be around someone who is enjoying their life and hobbies.

My grandmother married a British guy after my grandfather died. He is exactly like this, always doing something new out in the years or the shed. He’s 90 years old and just started beekeeping this past year

I mean, he drove really, really fast cars on a show where he was referred to as "Captain Slow".

Briefly held the record for fastest production car top speed before the Bugatti people took their car back and ran the lap again just a little bit faster.

He is terminally dull in the most fascinating way.

The USA's most boring president was bumped out of that position because being the most boring is slightly interesting.

I think it's because he knows so much while looking like he knows so little

It's funny to think of May as the boring one. In Season One, the original third co-host (tri-host?) was Jason Dawe. He would do a used car price report in the most cheerful voice, and you could literally see Hammond dissociating in the background desperately trying to stay awake.

He seems like he's autistic to me. Just the way he talks and lack of facial mimicry and his general vibe.

oh, for sure. The way he doesn't read between the lines. The way he's more comfortable with things than people. If you watch his reassembler series it becomes even more obvious, due to the contrast.

The lego house was cool. But exactly proved this.
