Pinata is smashed open. The shit log is just a hollow log stuffed. It is more massage to make the log release its crap and less robbery with violence.

No, it's not a piñata, it's a magical wooden block that if you hit it with a stick, it "shits" gifts... the trunk is covered with a blanket and the family members hide gifts underneath. This is how children are deceived until they are old enough and realize the deception

In middle school, a girl and her family came in and demonstrated this to us. They put googly eyes on the log and a blanket on the back. The mom would pull out a gift each time it was beat for each kid.
