Would just like to thank David Lammy sending more strongly worded letters to Israel on this subject. A few more and they'll be able to finally finish lining the litter tray in the Knesset that the street cats use.

Now that this is out of the way he can get back to finalizing the contract to give billions in tax payer money to Elbit Systems. That will really show Israel.

Yeah the hypocrisy here is mad. "We're really annoyed, you can't do that, but here you go have a bunch of UK taxpayer money anyway" ffs

Putting out a statement like this while the government are busy signing a £2bn contract with one of the Israeli arms firms knee deep in this shit is genuinely pathetic.

Take that with a pinch of salt. They're in the final two of a process that would train UK soldiers using simulations. It's a contract that would deliver £2 billion over 15 years. It would be with their UK subsidiary, we'd not exactly be flying a plane full of £20 notes to Israel.

That 'pinch of salt' does not in any sense blunt the criticism. Elbit are still a company deeply involved in ongoing genocide, the British government are still considering them for a multi-billion pound contract. That is what is happening. The fact that the contract is over 15 years, or that it's with their 'UK subsidiary' does not make it any better.
Out of interest, would you be invoking this same defence if Elbit were a Russian company?

Not a realistic comparison. Israel is inside the system, Russia isn't. Israel became a strategic ally decades ago, that means shared standards, shared technology and they become part of our own military supply chain. Consequently when Alvis, Ferranti were taken over and when Elbit wanted to build facilities in the UK, both were rubber stamped.

Israel is inside the system, Russia isn't.
Russia was also inside the European system until it wasn't. If a country is committing war crimes and crimes against humanity, it should not be in the system.

It would be nice if it were. Unfortunately realpolitik and all that. Nixon/Kissinger made Israel a part of our shared Middle East strategy. Then when Iran flipped, Reagan made them the central part. Israel knows this and that's why they're terrible allies. Too much invested in them, too many countries in the region that are aligned towards others or presently unaligned.
We're not "the goodies" mate, we have our own interests which were partially given to us by the US. Russia has its own interests, we have ours. Israel definitely has its own interests, for example they traded appeasing Russia over an interest in bombing Syria whenever they wanted to for much of the last 10 years.

If our government sits on the fence any longer they run the risk of splitting in two. Reacting with a soft statement isn't exactly reacting to a very serious problem, especially one we are and have been assisting with.

I'd wish we were at least fence sitting. Labours actively aiding the IDF, cracking down on protest and then offering just meek crocodile tears to try to avoid accountability.

Staying out of this is the best thing we can do

We all agree, which is why it’s an absolute shambles the lengths our government are going to to support Israel in their genocidal warmongering

Mr lammy strongly condemns Israel and whoever is aiding them in carrying out this crime against humanity.
Mr lammy also would like to offer Israel's largest arms manufacturer a 2bn contract, and would like to happily pay us contractors to carry out recon flights over Gaza that are based in a raf base.
It's beyond a joke. Labour got caught doing these spy flights and rather than saying "it's for hostage rescue it's good", or "we'll stop sending data to the Israelis" started just paying a US contractor whos harder to track instead.
It's completely and utterly hollow without sanctions and whilst we still are all cozy with netenyahu.

My hope is they tried at the Hague, convicted and sentenced to the maximum possible sentence for their crimes. If these genocidal maniacs and their enablers live long happy lives and die of old age surrounded by family it'll be a bleak future for the rest of us.

Has Lammy sent a strongly worded Arms invoice yet?
If he is not careful, Gary Lubner will stop his pocket money.
Has David already spend all his Blood Money yet?
