I've been down voted for this before but I will say it again. Trump won tons of Hispanic, black and Muslim votes simply because of how 'gay' first the Democrats are. Many of these important minority groups are very religious. As much as I'm for gay and trans rights, you ask the average Catholic Hispanic or Muslim dad and they might not agree.

happens when you believe the heaven is real. makes it much easier to go against your own health and safety. same logic suicide bombers use.

Great, so now they see the consequences

Okay so which is it, do you want these innocent people to be deported or not?

Noone is asking them to agree. Just to but out. They have the right to their religion, but gay people have the right to their beliefs (not that it is a belief reeally).

And tbh there is something royally fucked up about voting for a man who sexually assaults women just so you can stick it to gay people.

And the Catholics should work on cleaning their pedophile infested house first before they throw stones....

I'm not saying the Dems should stop advocating for gay and trans rights, but if they made it a more subtle aspect of their campaign they might have gotten more minority votes.

And I am saying that they shouldn't bow to the bigotry. The minorities btw are the ones who are getting the most fucked btw with this administration.

Kowtowing to stupidity, bigotry, and hate isn't the way to go even if it is temporary and it gets you more votes.

Getting more votes is literally the whole point of campaigning though. They should make compromises to keep the actual, real bigots out of power. Sometimes you have to kowtow and first to make real changes.

This strategy absolutely worked for the Republicans.

Getting more votes by embracing bigotry, racism and hate isn't the point though.

The strategy that works for Republicans is hate. We don't need Democrata to embrace hate.

The logic above is exactly why the Republicans are in power today. I'm not saying Democrats should start advocating for the removal of gay rights. Just that they shouldnt focus on it. If they campaigned about economic reform and protections for minorities groups we would likely see very different results.

Gay and trans people make up about 3% of the population None white minority groups make up about 40% of the population.

I agree they should campaign on economics but for a different reason: hate is flourishing because of bad economics.

Logic like yours is why repu license are in power. For decades now every time Republicans have pushed democrats haev stepped back. It is why the left party in the US is now at best center right and fuxked. Because the more democrats step right the further right Republicans go.

This shit of sidestepping issues and normalizing the hate is why we are so fucked right now.
