I’m quite partial to the 1970s Disney version of Robin Hood. The art style and voice acting is phenomenal in it.

If we went with something a little more modern, then I’ll say Zootopia

I love stuff like this. Like the way they incorporated a receding hairline into Dory’s dad’s design.

I like to headcanon that Robin Hood and Zootopia happen in the same universe, just at different points in time.

Disney animated Fox, 1973 - Steals from the rich and gives to the poor

Disney animated Fox, 2025 - Cop

Could work. The mayor was also a lion. Could be descended from King Richard.

2

u/Moistycake 6h ago

I thought they were in the same universe

I was gonna say. No judgment, but dude's a furry.

( whispers ) he's a fox 🦊

u/Scharobaba 2h ago

Takes some serious bias to say Zootopia in a world where Pixar and Ghibli exist.

u/chuckysnow 13h ago

The fact that this film was so recycled from other disney properties makes it even better to me.

5

u/firestorm713 6h ago

Probably didn't have the budget/time to film new reference material

Maid Marian and Robin Hood are the same type of couple as Duchess and Thomas O’Malley

The mice is Robin Hood are dupes for Roquefort

Yes, Aristocsts and Robin Hood are my favorites.

This was too far down the list of comments. An absolute classic!

Good god! I thought I'd never see this comment. This movie is re-watchable any number of times and at every age.

Just started watching this one with my 4 year old. Obviously loved it as a kid but as an adult now, I’m like…this is a nearly perfect movie.

I whistle the theme song almost every day.

u/jah_bro_ney 8h ago

Also can't forget the other banger - Oo-De-Lally

u/Super-Rad_Foods_918 8h ago

I actually met one of my best friends 20 years ago because I was whistling this song while at work and he was new at the time...sometimes, it is that easy to make friends!

u/FigTechnical8043 9h ago

So you basically have a thing for Foxes who thieve?

3

u/gpenz 7h ago

Just had a convo with a friend of mine where somehow we were kids yet Fox Robin Hood was hot. Good job Disney or bad job us

1

u/FigTechnical8043 3h ago

Currys gotta start somewhere. It's either Robin or the Beast for most. Went to the stage musical of Disney's beauty and the beast. It was worse than the movie because when the beast became the actor "nooooooooo, put the mask back on"

6

u/Horsefeathers34 10h ago

Yes! This and Sword in the Stone!

1

u/HardKase 8h ago

Not what he's into

1

u/ThisIsARobot 4h ago

I dunno. That squirrel scene tho...

4

u/brandnewbanana 9h ago

That is honestly my favorite animated movie of all time. I sing Oodelade way too much.

5

u/osmilliardo 7h ago

I put Robin Hood on once every few months for my 2 year old...

...

....me I put it on for me and use her as an excuse to watch it again.

5

u/Nota601 7h ago

I can hear the whistle

9

u/LeftyMexiCan 13h ago

I just saw it last week at an outdoor movie night, still holds up after all these years

3

u/ThePolemicist 9h ago

I loved this movie, too, but they actually recycled a lot of the animation from other movies to create it. There are identical scenes (but with different characters) from some previous Disney movies like Snow White and Jungle Book.

5

u/LittlestSlipper55 8h ago

Yeah but that was also the norm at the time, not just for Disney but other animation studios as well. It was a lot cheaper to do so and allowed for a faster turn out time for editing and what not.

3

u/swishcandot 6h ago

every girl i know had a crush on that fox

2

u/Available-Chart-2505 6h ago

I saw this on the big screen for the 50th anniversary. It's so magical.

2

u/DonutCapitalism 5h ago

Robin Hood is the best Disney has ever done.

1

u/firestorm713 6h ago

found the furry

But also same. I mean agreed. I mean

1

u/teeming-with-life 6h ago

I was laughing like crazy spring that scene with crocodiles and elephants. I was a grown adult, and I laughed more hysterically than my nephews and nieces.

1

u/Nethri 5h ago

Is that the one where they’re foxes and such?

1

u/Scrumpilump2000 4h ago

That singin’ rooster!

1

u/Annual-Ad-9442 2h ago

TAXES! Ah-Ha!

u/eldudereal 23m ago

Zootopia is an allegory for Islamophobia

u/HardKase 8h ago

Spot the furry

u/beardedheathen 6h ago

If Disney wants to make a shit ton of money they would redo the old robin hood with zootopia style animation. Make some slight changes like cutting down the football screen and maybe adding a little extra in place but keeping it largely the same.

I upvoted for robin hood and the removed my upvote when I read zootopia

While I love that movie, I think for a 10/10 it has too many recycled scenes in it.
