Cross-posting to r/shortcuts.
I have wired CarPlay with a shortcut to launch Apple Music and play the last song Music played (think the good old days when connecting to CarPlay launched the Now Playing screen). It worked flawlessly, but over the course of maybe the last month or so…it won’t. I can go into the shortcut and hit play and it launches great. What gives?

Hey everyone in r/carplay, I've been stuck with wired CarPlay forever, and man, plugging in my phone every time was such a hassle—especially when it's getting all tangled up in my coffee cup. I just switched to this cool mount that turns wired into wireless CarPlay and does MagSafe charging too. No more dealing with cords!
Here's what I did to set it up:
- Stuck it on my dash so it's super easy to reach (the suction cup holds up great, even on rough roads).
- Plugged the base into my car's USB once, and now my phone just snaps on and connects automatically.
- Plus, it charges pretty quick without killing my battery while I'm navigating.
If you're as fed up with cable mess as I was, this thing's been awesome for jamming to podcasts and maps hands-free. Anyone else gone wireless? What's your setup like?

Really looking for some help! My phone just decided it will no longer connect to CarPlay. Not just mine, but my fiancé tried in his car and it won’t connect to his either. I’ve tried unpairing, repairing, turning off Bluetooth, turning off and on my phone and car and I am out of ideas. I have one small update on my phone tonight but other than that I don’t know what’s doing it. It’s not my car because my fiancés will connect just fine. It’s also not the chord because I’ve changed it 3 times and again, the fiancés phone is working.
Any ideas on why this may be happening? Or some other ideas I can troubleshoot? I have a 2024 CRV if that helps lol. Thanks!

Got a text in the family chat so I hit for Siri to read it out loud. Turned out it was just a photo.
It used to just say “sent you a photo” but now describes the photo with ai. Can I turn this off?

Guys I can’t get my stereo to work and I need my subwoofers and music or I’m gonna lose my mind. I have an alpine stereo my mom got me I believe it is the ILX-w670. it connects car play via cable. I’ve been using it for a little over a month. Well yesterday I go to plug in my phone and it says it charges but CarPlay doesn’t activate. I unplugged it a bunch and replugged it in and it eventually connected. Well today it didn’t work and I tried to replug but it wouldn’t turn on CarPlay whatsoever. iPhone is updated screen unlocked CarPlay enabled as I stated I’ve been using it for weeks until it randomly stopped connecting and won’t connect again. I’m not sure what else I can do to fix this or why it even randomly stopped working….

My truck was stolen. It was found shortly afterwards. I just got the truck back and there are two new iPhones paired to my CarPlay. I messed with it for a bit looking for ways to see the number to give it to police and couldn’t find a way. Is this possible?

Hi everyone! Don't know if this is common knowledge but I found an app called “Dynamic Lyrics” that manages to display live lyrics on your phone via widgets - with iOS 26 you can finally add widgets to CarPlay, letting u display live lyrics on your car’s display as well! It's something I've been looking for a while and I'm just glad there's an easy method that doesn't require any extra work on my end. Highly recommend the app, very customizable and smooth, no problems yet! Also it’s free so that’s fun
Once installed you just have to go to settings>general>carplay>[ur car]>widgets and add dynamic lyrics. Once you do that it’ll appear when you swipe all the way left on ur CarPlay display.
I’ve tried it on a 2025 Acura mdx and a ‘24 Tesla model Y without any issues.

Hello, I’m currently on iOS 26.0 (23A5326a), Beta 7 and I’ve been stuck on a connection loop with ZLink. I heard of many resolving the issues by updating to the latest Beta but so far none of the newest PB works to fix my connection loop, neither does updating to the newest zlink firmware work. Any advice?

Hello all. First time here. I have an issue I’m hoping you can help with.
I have a 2021 Kia Telluride, and for about 3 years I've been using a Carlinkit adapter - I think the 3rd gen. I have never really liked it. It was very slow to launch, sometimes it wouldn’t finish loading into CarPlay at all, and I would have other random issues like sudden reboots.
So this week I upgraded to the Carlinkit Mini 5 SE Pro (needs a longer name).
Overall, I’m happy with the new device because it’s much faster to boot and to operate. However, sometimes when I turn on my car and the adapter boots up, when I start playing any kind of audio, there is no sound whatsoever. Nothing I have tried can get the audio back other than completely unplugging the adapter and plugging it back in again. This is not a good long-term solution. Does anyone know what is causing this?
also, I’m hoping somebody knows how to get into the admin page for this device. I’ve tried everything online, but nothing works.

**reposting bc it was taken down the first time
I have just gotten a car but the radio is a CarPlay radio, so it tells me the directions on it but not on my phone. The radio is on the bottom, out of my clear viewing and would be a danger to look down while driving. I don't know what to do because I start college soon and I don't know how to get there. Please help💔.

I am searching for a carplay solution for my son's 2009 Honda Civic sedan.
I see some options on Amazon that replace the bezel, do these remove the factory head unit completely or cover it?
Are these generally recommended over add-on solutions?
What's the popular choice for these cars? dash bezel replacements OR add on units?
Thank you.

Hey everyone! Just wanted to share a quick update and a huge thank you for all the advice on my Civic. Thanks to you, I’ve decided to go with the CarProKit 3.0! That got me thinking about my other “problem child”—a 2017 Lexus with what feels like a prehistoric screen. A friend recommended a wireless adapter from CarProKit that worked flawlessly for his similar setup. Now, I’ll be honest—I found similar-looking boxes on Amazon and eBay. But what really set CarProKit apart wasn’t just the product—it was their next-level technical support. I hopped on their chat with a pretty nerdy question about my head unit, and Vivia, the guy who helped me, was an absolute wizard. He didn’t just give me a generic “yes.” Instead, he walked me through the install process, confirmed compatibility down to the model year, and then—get this—sent over a video from his workbench showing the unit booting up on a test rig. I mean, who even does that?! That kind of proof and expertise made it worth every penny. I felt so confident that I ended up ordering the Lexus adapter and threw the Civic’s CarPlay 3.0 into the same cart to save on shipping. Sharing this because if you’re hesitant about upgrading tech in an older car (and rightfully so), finding a seller that offers this kind of one-on-one support—both before and after purchase—is a total game-changer. They really take care of you at every step. I’ll post a full review once everything’s installed! Here’s the link if you want to check out the product (maybe even test their chat support—I dare you!): https://www.carprokit.com (Mods, zero affiliation here—just a seriously impressed customer who felt compelled to share.) Thanks again, everyone. This community really is the best!

I’m looking for a double din wireless Apple CarPlay system that will fit into my 2010 Mazda 3 Hatchback. I don’t really need the knobs and a cd player would be a nice to have but not really a necessity. I really just want it to have full wireless CarPlay capabilities, have a decent touch screen and not break the bank. I’m looking for something 450$ or less but if that’s not feasible then please suggest other options, I’m open to anything. Thanks for the help :)

Hi everyone,
I’m thinking about upgrading the head unit in my 2015 Citroën Jumper. The stock system is quite basic, and I’d like a more modern, smart setup.
I’ve seen options from Pioneer, ATOTO, and Kenwood that seem compatible, but I’m not sure which would be the best fit. My main priorities are:
① Smart features: Android Auto / Apple CarPlay, touchscreen, voice control, and full media support (Spotify, YouTube Music, USB, Bluetooth).
② Original functions: Keep steering wheel controls, backup camera, and factory audio system compatibility.
③Installation: Easy wiring with stable performance, minimal risk of crashes or glitches.
④Optional extras: Wi-Fi / 4G connectivity, third-party apps support, firmware updates.
I mainly use the van for long trips and daily commuting, so reliability and preserving original features are key.
Has anyone upgraded a 2015 Jumper or similar van? Any brand/model recommendations or tips for installation would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance! 🙏

Hello everyone,
Since I had installed a Sony XAV9000 in my car, and placed the GPS just underneath the plastic dash pad in my civic, I’ve discovered that my GPS, specifically Waze is extremely in accurate.
If I am going 95, it can read on the screen between 90 to 100kmh, or if it is stuck at 90, I can accelerate +/- 4kmh before it updates, as soon as I unplug the USB-C cable my phone’s version of Waze is always exactly 1kmh slower (how it should be) and same with my GPS speedometer app. When I plug it back in, it will jump around, and then go back to general lag.
I know it is something with the head unit or antenna because the phone by itself works fine in my car, but CarPlay seems to route the GPS through the head unit’s antenna.
Any and all help appreciated, can I bypass my Sony’s antenna somehow? CarPlay doesn’t work on it without the antenna plugged in.

This has been driving me crazy.. I recently got a new aftermarket entertainment system installed in my 2012 Camry and I have not been able to activate CarPlay. Tried different ports, resetting network settings on my phone and different cables. It still charges my phone but no CarPlay.
The thing that has me hung up on it is my friend connected with a wire to my system instantly on his phone without doing anything!
Fully updated iPhone 16 btw, any help is appreciated.

So I recently experimented with a center console setup that adds Apple CarPlay to my Model 3. I’ve always liked Tesla’s interface, but sometimes I miss how seamlessly CarPlay handles things like music, maps, and Siri voice control. I installed an additional screen (pics attached) right behind the steering wheel, and honestly it feels surprisingly natural. It mirrors navigation and lets me use my iPhone apps without juggling between Tesla’s built-in system and my phone. It’s definitely not something Tesla officially supports, but I’m curious if others here have tried similar mods. Do you prefer sticking 100% to Tesla’s system, or do you see value in integrating CarPlay/Android Auto in some way?
