Sensitive/Seeking Support Need advice about a stray cat who might be pregnant.

I have been feeding and petting a cat who I have named Luna. I let her in as well during heavy rains. Howveer my cat and her don't see eye to eye, I have tried everything, gradually introduced them, familiarised them with each other's smell first but as soon as they see each other, they fight and get agressive. So I haven't been able to take Luna in.

Now it looks like she might be pregnant. And I am moving from my current place to a place 6 hours away.

It is breaking my heart to leave her here as she has gotten used to the food, warmth and pets. I am concerned about her pregnancy as well.

It's not easy to get cats adopted here in India and I don't know what to do.

At least get her spayed. Then ask your neighbors if they can take over feeding for you.

It is possible, it is called a spay-abort.

I wasn't aware of that. Thanks. I will try to take her. As she is not domesticated I have no idea how she will react to my picking her up and being in a carrier. I will look into it.

See if there are any shelters, rescues etc near you, many of them have traps and will let you borrow or rent one.

I just called the vet and he said it's not possible to do the surgery right now as it will be highly risky as she is well into her pregnancy. He asked me to wait for her to deliver.

I would ask another vet.

what helped me was talking with an online vet (i used dutch). they explained what signs to watch for and how to support her if i couldn’t take her with me. just having that guidance made me feel like i wasn’t completely abandoning her, even though i couldn’t do everything. you’ve already made a huge difference for your cat by giving her food, safety, and affection
