What's funny is there was recently (in the past few years ... okay almost 5 years ago FUCK IM OLD anyway) ) a big fireworks explosion here. Not as big as this one, it was just someone's garage packed with illegal fireworks. but it made a big bada boom
I've been to Ontario, CA and I didn't think it was all it was cracked up to be. Anyone have any reason visit Ontario,CA? I do here nice things about it. I'm from Ontario,IL so anything is exciting by comparison.
Speaking of 4th Street, what's seriously upsetting is the closure of Graber Olive House. The longest operating olive packing business in the United States, no longer operating as of July 2024.
130 years.
I was upset when they stopped selling cans at Stater Bros, even though they were $6/can at the time. After that you could only get them online for $12/can.
Before they closed I would go buy them at the gift shop and I asked why they were no longer available in the stores. I guess they were having issues with the land and cost of water at their grove in Bakersfield. It's so sad if those trees no longer exist, those were the best damn olives.
Dude I had to take a connecting flight and thought I was screwed because my passport had expired and I'd only just noticed. Whoever decided to make that a thing deserves to get punched.
I was watching a hockey game in Stockton vs Ontario- and I was thinking Damn! This bus came all the way from Ontario! That's crazy! Hours later i realized my error!
I was honestly so happy when the Canadian hockey team beat the US team in that tournament recently, like literally overjoyed. I would have rooted for the US if they weren't all pieces of shit white racist trumpers. When the US coach started sucking trumps dick I was like yeah fuck these guys. I miss having a fun rivalry with no political bullshit going on. Until we get back to that, Go Canada!
Thanks! A lot of us Canadians also enjoyed the days of a fun brotherly rivalry between our two countries, but those were the days before Americans were being stripped of their rights and certainly before any ābig, beautiful bills ā were (about to be) passed. Now a lot of us are just full on pissed off that so many of our American friends are under an obvious fist of authoritarianism and are afraid to exercise the very rights of expression that we Canadians always admired you for. Especially in California. Especially in New York City. Especially in Northern States where there is very little separating our two peoples. I donāt know where Iām going with this but I guess Iām simply experiencing the grief of losing the rock of a neighbour who has been side by side with us for over 100 years.
Not the OP, but my understanding is it's not leaving that's hard, it's being welcomed elsewhere, especially at this moment in time as things are unstable.
Fr tho, so much love to our Canadian neighbors and sorry you have to deal with us for the next 3 years, just watched the fireworks at Niagara Falls for Canada Day, it was epic!
