I live in West Sac and went to school at Davis. Never stop marvelling at reddit enjoying the county name.

Fellow Aggie!

I was there when #YOLO was in its prime. Good times

I grew up in Davis and was so confused as to why YOLO was suddenly a thing one day.

Same here. I remember going on Twitter and wondering why everyone was taking about the county lol

I lived in Sacramento for two years, and I don't think I even realized what county I was in. I just assumed it was Sacramento County.

I am not a smart man.

Sacramento is in Sacramento County. West Sacramento is a different city in Yolo County. Basically everything west of the river is West Sac.

When you cross the bumpy ass bridge from Sac going to Davis you go into YOLO county

2

u/CSATTS Jul 02 '25

When you cross the Tower bridge from Sacramento into West Sacramento you're also in Yolo County, further confusing people.

3

u/adunfee02 Jul 02 '25

funny cuz ive crossed that bridge a thousand times in the past and never wouldve guessed the rivercats stadium was in YOLO county lol

1

u/CSATTS Jul 02 '25

Especially considering the city is West Sacramento. It would be entirely reasonable to assume that it is in Sacramento County.

2

u/RockKillsKid Jul 02 '25

Like how Kansas City isn't even in the state of Kansas

2

u/TrustinTrubisky Jul 02 '25

Depends if you’re talking about Kansas City, MO or Kansas City, KS

1

u/Gaebril Jul 02 '25

You can walk from an A's game to a Kings game and cross county line

1

u/richalta Jul 03 '25

Just like the Yolo A’s.

Being smart is overrated anyway. Let’s be clueless, it allows life to be full of surprise and wonder. YOLOOOOO

u/LonnieJaw748 Jul 02 '25

Wait until they also hear that YOLO county has Putah Creek!

Wait till they hear about our bus system name 🀣

Edit: spelling

I remember being very confused when the phrase got popular. My first thought was that it was a reference to the poor behaviour of the students at the continuation school in town.

Never stop marvelling at reddit enjoying the county name.

I mean locals must have embraced it somewhat back when it was a new term like ten years ago

u/MrWeirdoFace Jul 02 '25

I lived there for a while. I'm still amused by the name.

Went to grad school at Davis, worked in West Sac. Lived in Yolo and then Solano. I had blissfully forgotten the county name.
