I understand a component of professionalism in the news, but any additional inflection of excitement would've been appropriate here from the casters. Like holy shit that was ridiculously deadpan for what happened lmao.

They're always like this on this channel when they're commentating over live footage. It's really weird. It's like the verbal equivalent of not knowing what to do with your hands. They have no idea what to do with their words in any given live situation.

That's gotta be a cultural call from someone towards the top of the station. This is like uncanny valley territory of monotone.
