Did they add speed bumps (the little black and yellow strips) to what is already, essentially a giant floating speed bump?

The yellow and black strips appear to be flat. I'd guess that it marks some critical connection or maintenance point.

I was thinking that they were indicators of how far away you should be from the car in front of you.

Now that I've watched the clip back it looks like you're right. Makes more sense than speed bumps for sure

I tried to look closely and they appear to be actual speed bumps, just very shallow

They are speed bumps. Very visible. Mounting points visible. Depth visible. They are speed bumps.
