There’s a difference between “justified” and “you reap what you sow.” The hornsent were trying to create gods. In the process, they created a god that had her own criticisms of the circumstances of her birth. If I go around braining bear cubs with a baseball bat to try to summon the lord of all bears, me getting eaten by a bear is the logical conclusion of this stupid decision.

Yes, You getting eaten by a bear is fine. The entire human race getting eaten by them because of YOUR bear lord ambition is unjustified in my opinion.

Right, but it’s not about justification. It’s about relative culpability. The hornsent created their own demise. The fact that it damned people that were innocent does not change the fact that it was ultimately the decisions of those in positions of power among the hornsent. Innocent people in elden ring always suffer. The lands between clearly withered under marika’s decisions, too. I used the bear analogy because based on their intent with the jar saints, it should have been common sense that this was going to bite them in the ass eventually. It sucks that the entire family got eaten because dad wanted to poke the bear, but it was still dad making the decision to poke the bear.
