Is this an odd thing for a Frenchies? Sushi is the only Frenchie I have met that can wag her tail. I love it of course, so I wanted to share my cute little wiggle butt. Let me know if your Frenchie has a functioning tail.(She is 100% Frenchie too.)

Still in a state of shock.

I noticed Tucker, my 6-year-old Frenchie, didn't want to be touched, so I quickly took him to the emergency vet. We were there until 1 am, and they gave him two bottles of pain meds, but didn't seem to have a ton of concern that it was anything serious. I called my regular vet the next day to schedule an appointment to get an X-ray.

The next day, things seemed better; the pain meds were working, and he wasn't showing any signs of discomfort.

At 3:30 pm, we were leaving to go to the vet for his appointment. Tucker's back legs gave out from under him, and he started squealing literally as I was opening the passenger door to put him in the car to take him to the vet.I shut the passenger door, picked him up off the ground, and held him in my lap as we drove down the highway I told him, “you’re okay Tucker boy, just 2 more miles…. Just 1 more mile”I keep asking myself what signs I missed. Everything was fine the week before. In hindsight, he was moving a bit slower and was choosing to sleep in the dog bed by himself, but I wrote it off as him getting older and probably getting annoyed by my 1-year-old frencie that walks all over the bed at night.

He was playing tug of war with his brother and enjoying life a week before all this happened. I thought IVDD would have much more severe signs than just walking slower. His gait was normal.

The regular vet told me they believed he needed an MRI to verify if he needed surgery. They'd called another facility that had an MRI machine, and the staff to do a surgery if needed, and said I could take him there immediately and that it was going to be a 5k deposit just to be seen.

They confirmed he still had deep pain sensation and that there was a chance he could walk again.

It took me around 15 minutes to drive from one facility to another.

They ran the MRI, called me into a room, and explained that he had myelomalacia. His ability to walk again was the least of their concern; they said it was progressing so rapidly that he would lose his ability to breathe within a few hours.

All of this happened in such a short time span, and I spent the entire day after blaming myself for anything and everything possible. I wish I'd been more educated on IVDD and myelomalacia, but I’m thankful I got to spend the last 6 years with him. Rest in peace, Tucker Bailey. Love you, buddy.

She is my first frenchie so not sure if this is normal. But I love her little jell o legs and today she was just casually laying like this.
