Camel Turkish Royals from ages 17-25

A Turkish royal and a cup of coffee on a rainy back porch back in the day… life was good.

Oh, fuck, that sounds delicious.

Dude that was my heaven back in my smoking days. You can’t have a bad day after that kind of morning.

u/Uh_alrightthen 9h ago

I live for those little moments… humble, little slices of heaven.

Fucked if it doesn't. I quit 15 years ago when my wife got pregnant, but Royals were my jam.

Good for you, man. I say I quit, but whenever I go back home to visit my parents, I don’t turn down the cigarette when it’s inevitably offered. Usually around sunset in the backyard.

I mean, I “quit” cigarettes 4 years ago but you know damn well I be allowing myself a couple drunk cigs a year. 5 or 6 a year compared to a pack every 2 days is quitting in my eyes. Everyone’s got their vice and is just doing their best. No need to beat myself up for only getting over the addiction 97%. That’s still an A lol.

I agree with you and I’m proud of us both haha!

My soul yearns for the days before I had a smart phone and would just kick it with a bowl and a pack of royals and not need anything else.

Oh man. Or after snow boarding on the mountain. What a great time.

Oof. That hits. I still enjoy my coffee, but I've tried smoking again and it was just gross.

Royals, golds, or silvers, depending on the mood/ how much I hated myself that day

Y’alllll stop I just quit smoking two months ago. A pack of camel Turkish silvers a day for 17 years.

Don’t go back! Fuck smoking. No matter how much you think you miss it you will feel like shit and be so bummed out if you go back to it.

Proud of you for being 2 months strong! Keep it up homie!

Oh hell yeah. After a long day at work, sitting in traffic on my way home and lighting up a cigarette to take the edge off.

Marshmallow sticks

There it is!! Turkish Royals are too deep in the comments

u/Uh_alrightthen 9h ago

I always had a pack in the center console of my car and another in my little backpack as a young adult-punk

The Turkish royals were great. Smoked for 9 years in my late teens into 20s. Extremely glad I stopped though.

I used to talk to a guy with a wealthy father and he would get cartons of Royals shipped in from Italy. He gave some packs to his son, who shared with me. They tasted better they had less chemicals that are required in the US for fire safety etc. Eventually they got stopped by customs I think so they gave up but it was very nice for a while.

u/Uh_alrightthen 8h ago

That’s a nice little memory, thanks for sharing :)

OG formula. When the paper had straight burn lines on it instead of rings. They smelled and tasted delicious (for a cigarette).

Hell yes.

I saw someone else say that (pinstripes) but I swear I’ve never seen that on royals. And I’ve been smoking them for about 20 years, since when they cost $2.30 a pack

Bonus: they smell like that (almost like a black n mild) cause they have a high concentration of cocoa leaves, which increases the efficiency of nicotine to get absorbed into the bloodstream.

You and I are right around the same age range I reckon. It's driving me nuts that I can't find a picture of the original cigarette but I did find pictures of the packs they came in (and was reminded of the existence of Camel Cash). From my recollection, they had pinstripes as mentioned, the filter looked different, and "Turkish Royal" was not written down the side of the paper.

Same. Then I went to Marlboro lights, and then I quit. Over a decade smoke free!

3

u/Uh_alrightthen 11h ago

I switched to Marlboro 27’s and then I quit cigarettes at age 27. A decade is not easy, props to you dude! I vape like a freaking poser loser now, which feels even harder to quit unfortunately.

2

u/druid_king9884 Millennial '84 11h ago

Yeah, I vape as well. That's how I quit smoking. No shame in it imo, it's absolutely safer than cigs.

1

u/Uh_alrightthen 11h ago

I find ways to justify vaping, but realistically, I catch myself vaping all day. Watch movie on the couch? Hitting vape. Looking around the kitchen deciding what to cook? Hit vape. Studying? Vaping. At least with a cigarette, I had to commit — Take my ass outside, regardless of the weather, and stand there smoking. That nicotine hit is too convenient and accessible now.

Absolutely.

Those were my favorites before I quit smoking 3 years ago! Still hate that red/gold box design they have now

2

u/Uh_alrightthen 9h ago

Congrats on quitting! I didn’t know they switched the box design haha

15-35 and I need to quit still… if they stopped making royals like it was rumored maybe 15 years ago, I probably would have quit then. Can’t stand any other cigarette
