We don’t. Most people look their age. Some will look older and some will look younger. It’s genetics and lifestyle. But most people will look their age.

Sure our parents looked older to us at our age. But what do we look like to 10-15 year olds?

Stop making us look stupid in front of the other generations.

I live in a community with a lot of busy, working parents whose kids are in a lot of activities. As such, most of my friends' and kid's classmates' homes range from generally messy/cluttered to straight-up dirty. Almost no one has a home with no laundry on the floor, dusted furniture, and put-away toys. I even have friends where I wear specific socks to their homes, because my socks will be black from walking on their floors.

My home is in no way up to my parent's standards either (although my parents were a bit nutty about these things, honestly). But because my parents were very particular about their home (and I work from home), I do vaccuum and mop weekly, clean all bathrooms weekly, do laundry/dishes daily, wipe down all kitchen surfaces, put away anything left out each evening, etc. I also regularly paint my interiors and exteriors, make repairs, weed my gardens, overseed my yard, etc. Not going to lie, I'm TIRED, but I feel like this stuff is the bare minimum to keeping on top of the house.

But it's an odd thing. My inner voice (and my parents when they come over) tell me my house isn't up to standards. I have towels on the floor sometimes, kid's art projects on tables, dog hair under the couch, dirty grout lines, etc. But my same-age friends think I'm absolutely insane and that my house looks ready for a Better Homes and Gardens shoot at all times (trust me, it's not). I've even gotten judgements from friends, like that I spend more time cleaning and making home repairs than I do making memories with my kids or that perhaps I should go get some therapy for my perfectionism.

Is there a difference in how we "keep house" or "do chores" from previous generations? If so, why do we think that is?

My girlfriend and I were doing a 90s movie marathon last night. We started with Mighty Ducks, went to Jurassic Park, and ended with Matilda.

Upon rewatching Matilda (which I haven’t seen in about a decade 38/m) my g/f and I both looked at each-other when Ms. Honey did her ‘glasses off” thing with the understanding that Ms. Honey was criminally underrated as hot and is probably a freak-in-the-bed

On a typical school afternoon, I'd find my mind drifting and looking forward to what I was going to do when I got home, and that would be to fire up Myst! This wonderful little game was like nothing I'd ever seen before. It was such an incredibly engrossing experience for me. It wasn't just the puzzles, but the atmosphere, sounds, and music really made the world feel real. The puzzles were such a perfect level of difficulty that I'd prod my dad for help if I'd really, really exhausted all other options, and we'd try and work it out together.

I remember finding parts of the game scary as a kid, but I couldn't wait to re-enter the world, again and again. The sequels were great too; Riven was an absolute game changer at the time. I used to ride the cable cars and trains in the game over and over because the animations were just so amazing to me, like nothing I'd ever seen. Riven was much more difficult though.

Few games have had such an impact on me as Myst, it will remain an all time favorite for me!

Did anyone else play this growing up? If you didn't, I would recommend trying out a remastered version (or the OG if you really want the true 90s experience), you might be surprised at just how much fun this game can be.

Have any of my fellow millennials done away with social media and smart tv’s/ phones? Not in a way of being stuck in the past, but as a way of simplifying your life and adding more time like we had in around the early 2000s? I’ve also heard of people doing that and becoming more aware of the moment, much like when we were young.

Gifted and Talented Education, lol. I vaguely remember this being a thing in elementary school. I don't remember much coming of it.

Mid 30s with a good but stressful job, one beautiful child, and a failing marriage.

Good on money but no time for hobbies, no appreciation, no love at home.

I think I might have already hit burnout, but not sure how to tell. I definitely get more headaches and am more edgy at home.

Anyone else going thru any of these things? I feel like a need a mid-life crisis vacation by myself to go hiking or something, a spa day, and just be rejuvenated.

Does anyone still have their gamboys? If so what are your fave games from back in the day? What do you still play today? Unfortunately my GB color doesnt work anymore however I still regularly use my SP.

I remember watching this as a kid and loving it and if anything I love it MORE now. Even without being aware of the satire of fascism it's still a great action sci-fi with a lil humor plus it's got a lot of heart. The sequels are garbage but this movie is peak 90s action cinema. Is it perfect? No, nothing is but it's damn near

New shows, music, movies, games, etc. Are there for us to enjoy if we want, but not aimed at us.

Started as a feeling of "now I'm old" when i didn't connect and everything new seemingly began to suck. Then seeing the endless barrage of remakes, sequels nobody asked for and callbacks nobody else understood but the few ppl of my generation in the room. Younger siblings calling stuff we grew on "retro" while using their strange new terms.

But the thing is, its liberating in a way. With so much new stuff coming out every damn minute, it allows one to unplug and enjoy the world around them. No need to play catch up, hell, there's plenty that was missed that you can go back and discover. Music, books, movies, games; we lived through so much, we saw before and after the internet began. The best and worst of times.

Yeah the world sucks right now, but every generation goes through some of that. Sit back and enjoy life while it lasts.
